Re: New user - howdy

Welcome aboard amd enjoy your stay here. The Gerber Gator is one fine knife, I hope you'll find the Spydies equally pleasing.
Congratulations on your inspired choices, the Embassy has many interesting features.

Re: Older Spyder models; Updated Materials?

The first that comes in my mind would be a G-10 Navigator (first generation), with a wireclip.
The second would be a yellow FRN Calypso jr. with an H1 blade. :)

Re: Spyderco and Cold Steel "collaboration" of sorts.

AFAIK, long time ago Cold Steel made a similar knife without the kind permission from Spyderco:

At least now they show some respect. :)

Re: Vegan and Vegetarian Diet questions

Without the intention to hurt anyone's choices or way of life, I think veganism is wrong. Nutrition is a higly debated subject and people are different, so what's good for one may be bad for another, but a fact remains: Humans are omnivore creatures (like the pig). If we were herbivorous, our intest...

Re: Poll - Flipperized Native 5?

Backlocks with flippers have been done already (ie. the SOG Twitch) so I guess it's feasible. Not very sure about the Native though. But it's an interesting idea anyway.

Re: Trend Toward Wide Bladed Spyders?

I think they (Spyderco) have quite an assortment of narrow blades: Nilakka, Tatanka, Centofante, Southard, the Hungarian and Valloton, the Szabo folder and Ulize, not to mention the classic Police. :)

Re: Debate about Spyderco Fakes/Counterfeits: What would you

For me this is a simple question. Perhaps I should start by saying that I am pro open source. I think information is a good thing and everyone should have access to it on a need to know basis. This being said, there is no excuse for stealing. You have the technology to recreate a Spyderco? Well, the...

Re: It this a replica of some Spyderco model or not?

It's a Benchmade 806 AFCK. The fact that BM themselves use the round hole for some of their models (like the AFCK, Vex, Dejavoo aso.) has been heavily debated already.

I always said the FRN Caly jr. would make an excellent candidate for a sprint run in H1, with a high saber grind (a la H1 Dragonfly) instead of the full flat grind that caused so many problems to this particular model. :)

This is ominous. Many of those fakes could easily fool me. An I'm sure there will be people trying to sell those as the real thing :(
