Softer closing is also a minus, [...] I personally would prefer it a little harder and the release not to be so immediate. My thoughts exactly, I also like predictable effort for closing a slip-joint not a surprisingly abrupt budge. Also, traditional slipjoints will pull the blade back in position ...

Hearing about the weak spring tension is a turn off for me. I had a G-10 UKPK and let go of it because of the weak spring tension. To me SAKs have a good spring tension. Yes, I know it would be harder to open, but I'd take a little stiffer action over a wiggly blade anytime. A slip-joint will never ...

Nice knives - I especially like the first two.
I have made some of my own blades, but only from old HSS saw blades and a few regrinds of old blades (from knives with broken handles, etc.)
Sadly, I don't have the possibility of doing my own heat treatment and/or smithing.

Think about all the attention Atwood's pry bars are getting. I find that :spyder: could still compete if the did a revival of the Probe.

Honing a straight razor is actually not that difficult, since the spine acts as an angle guide. Just lay the blade flat on your stone and start honing. That said, the fine :spyder: benchstone might be a good way to start your edge. If you also get a 6000-8000 Japanese water stone, you'll have one st...

There have been numerous types of armour in Japan. Most of the higher grade was laquered steel lamellar armour. There was also scale armour and plate armour as well as leather armour for lower ranking foot soldiers. I think bamboo would make a good material für lamellar armour, I am, however, not aw...
