Re: Poll: more CBBL

Vivi, your one handed closing of the manix XL is impressive. I can't do it. I use 2 hands the majority of the time without issue though. My pivot is rather tight though, so I don't feel unsafe depressing the lock one handed and just pressing the spine slightly against my leg to initiate closing the ...

Re: Spyderco Name Recognition?

The vast majority of Americans are simply incredibly ignorant regarding knives. The average person has no idea what steel is used, they know nothing about heat treat, they're baffled by the existence of a finger choil, they either consider knives weapons or "man jewelry", they can't sharp...

I lost my Shaman this way. It's probably in a pawn shop in Charleston, SC for $50 right now.

after losing a Shaman and a Pacific salt ($250 down the toilet)
That is definitely a place where you shouldn't play with your knives :p
If by play you mean carry and use them, then I agree?

Maybe?

Re: How was your 2019?

Definitely expanded my "collection". Knives were sold, but more were purchased. Glad to have k390, 4V, and Maxamet (tomorrow unfortunately, arriving late). Finally snagged a titanium military and a bada** manix XL. Even after losing a Shaman and a Pacific salt ($250 down the toilet), it wa...

Re: HRC Database

Had two knives tested a while back by Kurt- Delica M390- 61.4 and 61.8 Urban AEB-L- 59.1 and 59.3 Curious to see what other numbers might be out there for the M390 Delica. Respectable numbers here that seem to be dismissed because it's not 62(+). I didn't dismiss other HRC ratings. I was...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Glad you found an Atoma. I will be purchasing a DMT coarse and extra coarse double sided plate the polka dot 8 inch plate. After watching several of Vivis video the knives are getting a finish I have not seen with other sharpener or continuous plated stones. When the diamond grains on the plate wea...

Re: I almost missed out - K390 PM2

BBS just seems like a small grocery store with high prices. There's never more than 2 cars in the parking lot (as opposed to Walmart being absolutely packed), and some people like that.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I have an Atoma 400 on the way. I did Amazon because I value the fast shipping and I just started my week off. I took another look at the reviews and the 2 people that said the product had changed and that it smoothed out over a handful of sharpenings were from 2017. Plenty of awesome reviews from 2...

Re: Regrinding the Nirvana?

It's not so bad though. I've mirror polished a s90v military before. Nothing too crazy. I once tried polish the washer area on my K390 Police and I gave up pretty quickly. Anyway, I am really excited for OP response, pics would be even better. Maybe he is polishing it right now :P That's 5-6 HRC po...

Good luck polishing S90V with hands. That is going to take a lot of time and sandpaper.

I like that there's still some love for this model out there. Been carrying mine for about 4 days. With copper flytanium scales and a brass lock actuator (not sure what that's called), it's a hefty beast. Over 9oz and I love it.
How's the smoothness on the brass cage?
Flawless.

Re: Spyderco Name Recognition?

I REALLY wish Byrd's had a round spydie hole. I get appeal of the byrd's eye hole, but every time I open a byrd I miss the round spydie hole. This could potentially be a turn off for some users. I think the round hole looks better as well.

Grew up in Cape Hatteras, NC. I've lived in wilmington, NC. I've lived in Dania Beach, Florida. I currently live in the country in Georgia, but I'm rarely here. I could be anywhere on the east coast on any given day. I work.
