I honestly don't care too much how a blade arrives. The vast majority of the time I can put on a better edge than the factory. I think of knives as "kits" that come in the mail, which I must finish. Very true! Though I must say, the product coming of out the Golden plant is excellent. I s...

Sharpening Tips Warning: Long Diatribe

Hello Fellow Knife Nuts, I apologize for any grammar/spelling errors in advance. I suck as a writer. I have been working hard on improving my sharpening technique the last few months and I have some tips/tricks that I’d like to share with the bunch. Wedges I like to grind a good relief angle to my k...

I discovered good quality knives and Spyderco about 3-4 months ago. I never really understood what the fuss was about with expensive knives. I have always carried a knife, but I thought that Swiss Army was about as good as one really needed. Imagine this; I drive past the Golden plant twice a day. A...

Mule #2

A little bird told me that the Mule #2 run is expected in May. OK, now resume normal breathing and start saving your pennies.

I seem to remember reading on Mr. Stamp's website that high carbide steel may not do well with a shallow angle. I believe the point was that the shallow relief angles (<30 deg. total) don't provide sufficient support for the carbides and they tend to break-out. Hence, after some rough work the ZDP b...

Radio Shack has a kit with all that you should need. I think it's about $15 and comes with a warranty.

I was trying to make the same decision when I decided to buy my first new Spyderco. In the end, I chose the better knife over the fancy steel. I bought the Para-Military (and a Tenacious cause it's such a deal).

I my pocket right now is a D'Allara. If you hurry you can snatch one before they are all gone. The construction appears to be bulletproof (steel liners, ball lock, stout tip) and the blabe is around 3.5 in. But, the best part of the knife is the feel (very grippy handle) and the action (very smooth,...

Crow Clips - Stiff

I’d like to share my observations and modification to the Byrd Crow clothing clip. I love the Crow model, but I found clip to be incredibly stiff. I practically ripped by pocket trying to clip the knife onto it. I took the clip off hoping that another Byrd or Spyderco clip might fit (now there’s an ...
