Re: SRS13/SUS405 Performance Thread
I've been using this in the kitchen since the day I got it. I like it a lot. I have only done two sharpenings (both with the Goldenstone). One shortly after arrival and one along the way. Another is probably due, but honestly the knife is doing just fine and has a better edge than my other random ki...

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
I completely forgot today was the release. Just picked up one at 9pm with no issues. Thanks again for this unique program is there a release schedule somewhere? I only saw it accidentally when someone posted a thread on reddit No schedule. You either have to lurk here (which is not a terrible idea)...

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
And there never was a Rex 45 mule for whatever reason, so the Rex 76 mule sort of makes up for that.

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
I compare Rex 76 to Rex 45. And I have always compared Rex 45 to the ever popular M4. I recall this video --
I have always called Rex 45 "M4 on steoids" and I see no reason not to say the same thing about Rex 76.

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
To me it looks like a slightly tweaked Rex 45, which is one of my favorite all time steels. So, I am totally stoked to get my two of these. I just hope they sell out by the end of the week, as long as they do, it is kind of nice to not have them sell out in a mad scramble in the first 30 minutes.

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
Well, I am certainly lucky. I try to check as often as I remember to do so. So just now (11 AM) I peek at the mule team forum and discover this is going on. And the limit lifted announcement was there. And I was just able to order two. It doesn't get much better than that!!

Re: How do I get over my crippling fear of corrosion?
I have had no problems with K390, M4, Rex45, but of course I live in southern Arizona. The comments made about our boyhood folders made of 1095 are worthy of being pondered. I have had the same thoughts about those"old timer" knives when the long discussions about the best and strongest lo...

Re: Paramilitary 2 vs Shaman
Yeah. CBBL, Compression lock, who cares? They both work fine and I love them both. I am not worked up about learning fancy techniques to open my knife one handed, blind folded, left handed, etc. etc. I just use my knife and cut stuff, then close it up.

Re: Paramilitary 2 vs Shaman
The Manix (which you know) and the PM2 are for me interchangeable. The same weight, basic size, and so forth. All kinds of design details are different, but I use either one without much noticing the difference. The Shaman is very different. The thicker blade steel makes it feel very different in us...

Re: Paramilitary 2 vs Shaman
Well, here you have two of my favorite knives. Throw in the Manix and you have all three. You cannot go wrong with any of them. I have several of each and am in the mood to carry one one day and another on another day. The question for you is probably which one to buy next. I enjoy them all, and lif...

Re: Blade HQ Shaman exclusive coming, green micarta and DLC steel?
I'd prefer Rex 45 myself. I suppose K390 is out, being from Japan , but M4 is an excellent steel. BÖHLER K390 MICROCLEAN (powdered) is a European tool steel not Japanese. https://www.bohler-edelstahl.com/en/products/k390-microclean/ https://www.bohler-edelstahl.com/app/uploads/sites/92/2020/12/prod...

Re: Blade HQ Shaman exclusive coming, green micarta and DLC steel?
i prefer stainless steels. i've never used m4 and i hear it's great, but it leans a little too hard into entropy for my tastes, especially for the price. I live in the desert. The only steel I have that has rusted on me is m4. If you look at it wrong it oxidizes faster. I don’t understand bhq’s inf...

Re: Blade HQ Shaman exclusive coming, green micarta and DLC steel?
this one almost made even me want a shaman until i saw m4. I have extremely limited experience with M4 and so I ask…what don’t you like about the steel? i prefer stainless steels. i've never used m4 and i hear it's great, but it leans a little too hard into entropy for my tastes, especially for the...

Re: My thoughts on the Shaman
Really, really great review brother. Like you, I have been putting off getting a Shaman for a while now. Largely due to price, but also due to my personal question of "can the Shaman do anything that my Manix 2 or PM2 cannot do?" Thank you! Can it do anything they can’t? Maybe not, but fo...

Re: CPM-D2
I was going to jump on this thread and say that if you are itching for D2, you should just grab some Cruwear. My understanding is along the lines of what has already been said. Cruwear is a tweak (i.e. improvement) on D2. So why settle for D2 when you can have Cruwear? The Junction was indeed a grea...

Re: does k390 have any advantages over 10v?
I think availability is the primary advantage of K390 over 10v or A11. Ha! That was my first thought. I never knew there was a special edition PM2 in 10V, but I am glad to have a PM2 with K390. Perhaps it is good that I didn't hear about the 10V run, I might have been tempted. I read this thread wi...

Re: Let's talk Drilling.
What a great thread. Thanks so much for launching this. When I first got my mill and lathe I sought out a professional machinist for some advice. My education began with a sobering set of safety lectures. Your experience with the long "chip" almost removing the end of your finger gave me t...
