Re: 15V Shaman!

I worked my edge a lot more and I’m not quite sure what did it but it’s been holding up okay. I was struggling to remove the burr after a 1200 grit atoma plate. Maybe jumping to a 1 micron strop was too large of a jump? I’ve been warming up to the model even though it’s geared towards more hard use ...

Re: Handle and tang not flush?

With the handles being separate, you’re just going to get some variation. The handles I purchased from halpern are slightly short, making the blade tang proud. At first I wish it was the other way around so I could sand the handles flush with the blade but they’re not off by much and when using the ...

Re: 15V Mule Team scale bolt holes

I tried my second 15V mule and the holes were clearly the right size because I had no trouble getting the scales attached. So I’m 1 for 2 on correct sizing. This has been my experience as well. I may look into the Hazy scales for my second blade, which appear to use different holes but I’m not sure...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread

Interesting. I took a 52100 blade up to a very high polish once and when running along a couple of those little air filled packaging “pillows”, the edge was blunting fairly quickly. That is when I realized a coarser, toothier but refined edge has its place and its not always beneficial to take edge...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread

I’m curious to hear other’s experiences, especially with higher grit finishes. I’ve carried my Shaman for 2 weeks now, the last week with my edge and I was surprised to see what appears to be some light rolling of the edge after only light use opening mail and a couple packages. I usually sharpen my...

Re: What is Spyderco's current policy on broken screws?

I’d carefully drill out the screw. I needed to do this once to a factory installed cross threaded screw. I then bought an extra clip, which comes with new screws.

I believe I saw somewhere there were about 2000. They sold out in roughly 3.5 hours.

Eying g10 contoured scaled by Halpern. I know they make quality products but any issues with these scales?

Recommended?
They didn’t have much in stock when I placed an order earlier today for a blue set but I believe they make the scales sold by Spyderco so they should be good to go.

Re: Buy a new BENSHOT® SHOT GLASS WITH LADYBUG™ 3 BLADE when you buy your Mule tomorrow!

I picked 2 up as well, but I’d use a pint glass a lot more than either the rocks or shot glass. A pint glass with a Millie sticking out of it would be great!

Re: Why all the excitement?

Some helpful info from Larrin at Knife Steel Nerds IMG_5075.jpeg It reminds us how fantastic m4 is. The steel that started the tool steel revolution What was the first sprint/exclusive that came in it? I believe the Gayle Bradley was the first Spyderco in M4. If the Blade HQ PM2 wasn’t the first ex...

Re: Objective Question

For me the Manix 2 has always seemed to melt in my hand. The Ayoob also is on a different level for me. I just started playing with a Shaman and for a larger folder, they’re on to something with those 3d scales.

Re: 15V, after the mule, what's next?

I’d like to see a 15V military, native 5 and lil native wharncliffe. I’m curious to see what the BBB collab model looks like and hope, they make 15V a production steel and not wait for the BBB collab model to be their 15V production model. I plan on buying it anyway, but want as much 15V as I can get.

Re: revieving the pressure of pocket clips...?

The few times I’ve over extended my clip and needed to get tension back, I removed it, put it in a vise using spare pieces of wood scrap to prevent marring the clip, and slowly worked the clip a few times. You can get a rough idea how much to bend by laying the clip back on the knife before fully in...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread

Has it outperforming K390, Maxamet, and Rex121 on just the first edge after the factory edge. Truly impressive. BBB and Spyderco knocked it out of the park! I knew it was good, but did not expect *that*... I folded and bought the Shaman shortly after watching that video. 🙈 Same here. Spyderco reall...

Re: First PM2 question about Cruwear and Micarta

I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with Spyderco’s DLC. Personally I’ve found when cutting some materials, you can feel additional drag from the DLC that isn’t there with an uncoated blade. For some the DLC drastically improves corrosion resistance but I’ve found CW to be very corrosion resist...
