Re: U.S. Steel bought out by Japan's Nippon Steel

The Japanese just had to have that Magna Cut. Bring on the Magna Cut Katana! But Magna Cut is made by Crucible. Those jokers at Nippon are going to be pissed when they learn that they bought the wrong company. P.S. I just did a search on Magna Cut, and autocorrect gave me "Manga Cut." I g...

Re: U.S. Steel bought out by Japan's Nippon Steel

It's really sad in a way that so many iconic USA companies are ending up being owned by foreign corporations. Here in Kansas City years ago we had huge steel mill owned by ARMCO steel corporation. It was a fantastic employer and I had two really good friends that made great money working for them. ...

Re: Why is 1095 steel popular amongst knife makers?

Not every knife steel has to be Magnacut or M390, and there are different steels for different applications and most of those applications are manufacturing, not knife making. The fact that we are seeing high edge retention steels is great, but it may not be by design...they may not have been inten...

Re: Why is 1095 steel popular amongst knife makers?

I don’t get steels like 1095. Why are so many hunting, camping, hiking knives made from this steel? It’s not tough and it doesn’t have good edge retention so I just don’t get it. The bottom line here is because it has a long history of working. 1095 has a variety of uses in knives, all depends on t...

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

As is always the case, the victors write history. History is what we learned in elementary school. But it wan't that long ago, and not all the facts have been lost to the sands of time. I'll try to summarize with minimal distortion precursors to December 7, 1941. The Japanese were screwing around i...

And something we have no data on so they have no clue what may actually happen. People who study have plenty of data and plenty of clues. TV Binging clickbait followers might not have data or clues, but that's a life choice. Being educated and being ignorant takes exactly the same amount of time. P...

Willingly ignorant people forgave Copernicus hundreds of years after his death for claiming the Sun was the center of our solar system. "Mouthy keyboard warriors remain mouthy until they get punched in the mouth." - Mike Tyson :rofl They can't even predict the weather accurately MOST of t...

Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads

Jim, What a joke. :eye-roll Jim Jim, Yes, it is. But sadly, as you've indicated, it's not a 😂 kind of joke, but a 🙄 kind of joke. I suppose next, Dwayne Johnson will star in the Braveheart remake as William Wallace. Then he'll play Mr. Lee (Bruce Lee's character) in the Enter the Dragon remake. The...

You gotta be freakin' kidding me... https://youtu.be/4i_SOunZ-zE?si=Bkb7NnLpe4za_G0C OK, this is not a nearly-forgotten TV show, theme, or ad, but the subject of Dwayne Johnson's over-exposure in Hollywood has been brought up in this thread. And even though the 1980 Popeye movie starring Robin Will...

Re: Buck 110 question

I had a bunch of 110's and 112's over the years, starting in the 1970's. The design is for the most part outdated these days, more of a brick if you really think about it. I did like the 110 Lite though. The Cold Steel Voyager was a much better design IMO, I am talking about the old ones, excellent...

IMO, there will always be life, both below and on the earth's surface, even if all of the larger life forms (including humans) go extinct. Jim Jim, Yes, until the time when the Sun becomes a red giant and turns the planet into a fire ball like Mercury before it absorbs it. But then that would be lo...

Re: Interesting, and I bet you did not know.....

The planet will be fine. Humankind might not be, but that will be our own fault, so, hey… Nothing lasts forever. Humans will end one day also. Dinosaurs were around for around 165 to 177 Million years before they ended. I seriously doubt humans will last even remotely that long however. Personally ...

Well when it happen it will long after I am gone so... :beaming-face I tend to only worry about things that I can actually do something about. For the rest, things that are out of my (Our) control we really have no other choice but to take things as they come. Say it does wipe out the atmosphere.......

Re: Forward to the past: Fallout preps are a thing again

I am in agreement with Ankerson as far as surviving a nuclear war where more than 30 nuclear weapons are fired off, and these fools have thousands. But you can prep for survival for almost everything right up to the point of nuclear annihilation. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, short duration in Sum...
