Re: Salty Stretch?

That's a really good idea. The Stretch was designed to be a folding hunting knife for field dressing game, and I believe a Salt version would allow it to excel in that application. I say this for two reasons. First, blood is very corrosive due to its high salt content. But when it's getting dark, an...

Re: Thick vs Thin handles

The Pacific Salt (original) and the PM2 have good handle thickness for most of my cutting applications. They feel comfortable in the pocket, yet I am able to maintain adequate control during use.

If I need a more substantial handle for heavy cutting, I will usually reach for a fixed blade.

Re: Full SE versus combo edge?!

I recently purchased a Police with a stainless steel handle and combo edge. It's been a long time since I owned a combo edge, and I'm really enjoying it. When I make a cut, I use the blade as if it had one consistent edge. I don't think about the fact that it has two edge types. For example, if I am...

That Zome color combo is really nice. I hope to see it on more models.

I've posted this several times already, but here it is again:

I love this knife! It's so light and versatile. And the best part is that mine locks up like a bank vault. It has no play in any direction, and the pivot never loosens.

Re: Space Corps knife??

Are we talking about designing a knife for astronauts or for the US Space Force? The reason I ask is because the average US Space Force guardian is never going to launch into space. The majority of them work on terra firma operating satellites, analyzing data, or performing support functions. If we ...

Sal, Thanks for taking the time to ask this question. I enjoy the depth and breadth of the discussions that take place on this forum. They are intelligent, and they cover a wide range of topics and models. In contrast, some forums consist primarily of anticipation and picture threads, and the member...

Of the ones you listed, I selected the Chaparral. It fits my hand nicely, and the thin blade makes it a slicing machine.

I've come to really like Spyderco's FRN over the past few years, so I'd be down for this.

Re: Cru-/Mi-carta Military: Am I wrong or would it gain a lot of weight?

... I question whether they really need to strengthen the steel liners. Micarta is not as strong as G10, but it's still very strong. I wonder if controlled testing led them to change the liners in the PM2, or if they were just excessively cautious. Aftermarket Micarta scales have been popular for s...

Absolutely! Perhaps they could call it the Coastie in honor of US Coast Guard personnel who exercise police authority on American waterways.

Re: Cru-/Mi-carta Military: Am I wrong or would it gain a lot of weight?

If I'm not mistaken, Micarta is a bit lighter than G10. So as long as the Micarta scales are cut to the same dimensions, it won't make it heavier. As laid out in my original post: Weight of handle material is not the issue here, but that a Micarta Millie would have to go from its minimal liners to ...

Re: Manix 2 LW CTS-BD1N

Yeah, I used to like the super high vanadium steels for their extreme edge-holding characteristics. But over the last two years or so, I've come around full circle. Now I prefer good mid-grade steels for their ease of sharpening.

I'd be on board for that, especially with the Police 4.

How about serrated K390 that's blacked out?
