Aesthetics. Can make the knife look good and can also "show" that the knife is a user if you cut abrasive materials. Sometimes dlc is handy in daylight, if the blade is uncoated and you catch the reflection just right it could hurt sensitive eyes.

With the blade closed, look down thru where the choil jimping is. You'll see the bronze washers peaking at you.

This is such a horrible picture.... Try not to put lube directly on the tang it may make the ball stick.

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe there were two changes made to the XL. One was changing the cage from clear to black, as noted. This was just a color change, I'm pretty sure the material stayed the same. The second was that they milled out the liners to lighten the knife. I'm not sure if these ...

As close to the washers as possible, less is more in this case as excess will just hold debris.

S30v and vg-10 are pretty rust resistant, keep them dry when not in use and an occasional light coat of oil.

I got into spydies late also, or I'd have a cf/s90v para2, instead I had to settle for the blue/m390 and other variants.

That's a good looking notch on the s110v, well done. Aesthetics go out the window when I start sharpening and slapping the stone against the plunge lines lol.

Congrats on your purchase, I beat around the bush similar to you. Bobt slipit/para2's/mule/GB/Techno/southard/air/Tuff/caly3.5 then finally last saturday grabbed a cruwear milie. You can tell its an older model but its just as smooth as the new designs that come out.

An edge of 10 dps, 15 dps micro-bevel, 1200 DMT would be my starting point. How much draw you use and how much of the materials that would benefit from a heavier draw would say if a fine DMT would be better (a lot of the poly rope for example), a few light passes on the balsa loaded spray might be ...

Cliff here's a question(Or for anyone else obviously) for something say a Cruwear Military. What grit/finish and dps would you suggest? If the media being cut will be zipties/cardboard/rubber hoses/nylon rope + the occasional fish and wild game(mostly slicing cuts with the occasional push cut when n...

I have contemplated having the lockbar face carbidized in the past. This would allow the tolerances to be tightened in the contact area, but I have no really experience or actual success to report. I like this idea the most, my 3.5 zdp has a hair of up/down but nothing that bugs me. If it ever gets...
