I have personally seen two of these knives. They both came extremely gritty and dull, and both had some noticeable side to side play. After some cleaning (and slight modification by one owner), the knives are serviceable and smoother, but they still seem like cheap knives, even though they feel more...

I loved my skeletool, until it got lost/stolen.

The SOG Powerlock I replaced it with is a beast, but it's too heavy for EDC. I only carry it when I know I'm going to need it.

Other than that, a leatherman micra or squirt E4 is usually in my pocket.

The Para and SuperHawk are the only current production Spydercos available with the comp lock. The SuperHawk is a hawkbill, as you may have guessed. You may want to keep your eyes open for a Lil Temp. They're discontinued and pretty tough to come by. I've never owned one, but have handled one befor...

For smaller cuts, I just hold a napkin or towel over the cut until it stops bleeding, I'm a fairly quick clotter. For larger cuts, I carry band-aids in my billfold. For cuts larger than that? I'm not sure, I have only done that once, and there was duct tape nearby (I still have the scar on my leg th...

I love my D'allara DP. It's solid, huge, and it fills the hand. I also need to get the rescue version too, I'd love to have a solid "Pocket saw" like that.

Maybe the new D'allara II will have a serrated drop point blade? I think that would be an amazing cutter, and my choice for sure :D

I know the problem that you're trying to describe, and the old Salsa had the same problem (but it was basically the same design). I've heard of a few people on the forum either grinding or filing the spacer to get some clearance for the blade, but I didn't worry about it. On mine, it didn't seem to ...

The delica is one I never warmed up to. I even ended up getting a ZDP SE version, and while I loved the steel and serrations, I still didn't like the edge geometry or handle. Well, I ended up loosing my delica somewhere, and I guess I never really cared to buy a new one. I figure, why buy the "...

Ever since I lost (or was it stolen?) my etched cricket, I've been yearning for a SS SE.

Though, I might just have to get both a SS SE and an etched and swap the blades... :D

One of my favorite breweries is in Lincoln, NE: Empyrean Ales . I know they sometimes make some special brews (like a chocolate porter that even my beer-hating girlfriend loved), but so far my favorites are Dark Side Vanilla Porter, and Fallen Angel Sweet Stout. If you're ever in Lincoln (or there's...

I started looking at what knives fill what niche. Just how many 3" flat ground PE knives do you need? While they all have different styles and somewhat different cutting performances, they are all functionally the same. Pretty much the only knife that I don't have a functional duplicate of in t...

I've always thought the Kiwi would be a great whittling knife. Jim I've tried my SS kiwi for some simple whittling. I find that the blade and the grind are too thick to cut deep or to cut more detailed designs. If you only use the tip, it's OK, but the blade is almost too long to just use the tip. ...

This may seem kinda strange, but I think my CE Flatbyrd is one of the best whittlers I have. The wharnie profile with the chisel grind makes for some sharp lines and is fairly maneuverable.

Granted, it's probably much too large for your ideal whittler.

I know the SOG isn't the best tool out there, but it seems to be a tank for the price I paid. I watched a "nutnfancy" review of it vs the Leatherman Charge TTI, and he voted for the TTI on every single talking point. However; The SOG is half the price (Or less). I've never tried any of the...
