Since this question was about comparing any spyderco to any switchblade my take is simple. I'll take the spyderco over a switchblade any day. The primary reason is the mechanical simplicity of the spyderco knife when compared to all springs and such. I've used switchblade in grimy conditions and the...

Outdoor where??? Urban or wilderness?
Just camping or deep wilderness?? Big

I'd try to define where first, mate.

Sorry to say it is my understanding that the Spyderench is
out of production. My guess is that the only place to find one
would be in the secondary market.

If it's cuttin' you want then there is only one knife in the entire Spyderco that will match the little Calypso. That is it's bigger brother the Large Calypso. This is an absolutly scary cutter. The large is the only knife I own I won't "play" with. Been cut to many times. If you can't fin...

Ya know I've never understood why anyone would want a clip diggin' into their palm while trying to use a knife. I'm a lefty and really enjoy right hand knives because I pick uo a huge bonus in comfort with the clip on the "wrong" side for my left hand grip. Crazy as it sounds I won't buy a...

Yep, those pics should help "re-infect" a spyderholic
trying to quit. There just is no cure I know of for
"knife-ites" at all. Once bitten it is incurable.

Sooner or later you'll have to sharpen the knife you buy and when it's in ATS-34 you'll soon wonder "why the heck did I buy this darn thing" it's that hard. If I had you're choice between Aus-8 and Ats-34 it'd be no contest. The Aus-8 would win EVERY time. Ats-34 is a fad steel who's time ...

Why is it that when the issue of self defense comes up it has to equate to carring a gun or a knife?? There are lots other more common items that one can carry / use that will fill the bill for self defense. Both gun or a knife can ,and would be, considered weapons creating huge legal problems for t...

Big Target, Mate all is not lost. Remember A.G. warranty policy.
"If you're not happy with it send it back".Period. If the knives are not
what you want just return them. A.G. runs a first class store.

According to my Spyderco catalouge Steel page listing Aus-8 & 8A are the
exact same steel. This catalouge also list Gin-1 & G-2 at the same steel.

Aus-8 is a very good everyday type of blade steel made & used mainly in Japan. G-2 is also another type of Japanense steel. The blade steet difference just means they were made at different times. Both are good steels with good points for use . Of the two I prefer Aus-8 for everyday use by a wid...

Mate, I'm a huge Calypso fan and own an example of every Calypso made. Normally I'd recommend the Large Calypso for what you ask about ,but in this case it may be to much knife. So would the Al mar Eagle. For what it's worth look at a smaller knife for your "Dress" needs. Something with a ...

In the Spyderco line the Wayne Goddard was a disappointment. For reasons that have nothing at all to do with quality , it was all ergonomics in my hand. A classic example of "fit in the hand" being wrong for ME. I think as this thread weaves on the "fit" issue will be expressed a...

B.T., If it's an idea that you want to sell to a comapany then write
the main office asking how submissions are accepted. If not share
it here in forum's land where it will become part of public domain.
You will ,however, not likely be paid for the idea.
