GangstaMedic, NGK has a SE Dodo, maybe you should give it a shot. I bought my first fully serrated knife only a few months ago (SE Cricket) and am being constantly amazed by the serrated reverse-s curved blade's cutting prowess.

[quote="spyderking"]I don't know much, but if I were in your position I would buy another Caly 3.. keep the new one safe, carry and use the current Caly 3! That's what I'd do err am going to do. :spyder: ] I like that idea! But what's the point of having a safe queen as backup if you don't...

Too nice to use?

I love the Caly3. It looks and feels great, and cuts as well if not better than it looks. But I find myself using it very lightly, cutting envelopes and tape and boxes, resorting to my serrated Cricket for blister packaging (I'm quite afraid of breaking the pointy tip of the Caly3) and the D4 for cu...

I managed to get my Caly3 for a very good deal, $70 shipped from a fellow forumite on a different forum I'm on. Looked for a price as good elsewhere... haven't seen one. NGK's got it for about $95, which I'd gladly pay to replace my Caly3 should anything happen to it.

In my worst-case scenario I'd have only the Caly3, which I know I can rely on for small, precise and delicate tasks (field surgery, anyone?). In my best-case, I'd have the Endura 4 and a small but tough fixed blade... Speaking of survival, I think it'd be great if Spyderco made a knife similar in st...

The Jester on my keyring is serrated. I figure my keychain is my "backup" essentials because I pretty much carry larger versions of the things on it (light, knife, multitool) and if I have to resort to my keychain I'll want as much cutting power as possible in a small package.

The serrations on the Victorinox OHT are surprisingly placed -- towards the front of the blade as opposed to the rear, but interestingly enough it seems that those who've used them, prefer the serrations towards the front than the back.

I like both Benchmade and Spyderco... but I own quite a few more Spydercos simply because they seem to offer better value and Spyderco makes what I believe is a larger variety of knives, whereas Benchmades start to look the same after flipping through the catalog for awhile. (I wrote a review on the...

I think it'd be pretty cool if Spyderco put out a competitor to the Leatherman Micra... I've had one on my keychain for 6 years and a new one I just bought seems to be of lower quality. A Spyderco Micra-like multitool could become pretty popular, and introduce NKP's to the Spyderco brand.

Following the OP's line of thought... a Dodo-like blade but perhaps with a bit less extreme curvature of the blade might work well for said slipjoint Caribbean Salt.

Thanks for the welcome, guys! The Lava is also on my ever-growing list of Spydies to buy...

I'll look into the SS Dragonfly, but it seems like it'd be slippery in the hands to use. Are there any brick & mortar dealers in NYC where I could try out a few Spydies?

The D4 is an excellent knife. Contrary to its name, it's not even delicate -- I hammered it through the top of a soda can (to make a soda can stove) and use it for light prying. Less than five minutes on my Spyderco Pro-File sharpening set, and the D4's blade was restored to a sharp edge.

Updated Dragonfly?

Since I am new here, I'll just say a little preamble -- some of you may know me from CPF, others, from EDCF. But just because I'm new doesn't mean I don't have any Spydies... I have a D4, E4, Caly3, Cricket SS SE, Vagabond, and coming in the mail are two Jesters and a Spin. While flipping through my...
