Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Conversely, are there issues sharpening softer steels on metallic bonded and resin bonded diamond/cbn stones? I remember seeing warnings from certain vendors about it.

Like will I cause accelerated wear from sharpening $10 Dexter Russell's on one?

There's 3 (?) versions of clamps available for the r2, each with their own pros and cons. Contact gritomatic directly, they're pretty helpful

I'll take an exclusive delica/endela/endura in g10. I really wanted the g10 police 4 because I love full liners and backspacere, but I cannot use a 4"+ knife

I like g carta depending on the pattern, but according to a chat I had with the trm/Halpern guy, they encounter lots of voids and delamination during the manufacturing so they gave up on it

Re: "sharpener's steels"

Of all the blade steels that Spyderco ever used I found to be a monster to sharpen the older CPM-440V has to be my most dreaded of them all. There have been times I've even learned new curse words sharpening 440V. There is such a high vanadium content which I believe must contribute to being a mean...

Re: "sharpener's steels"

Nope, Michael Christy is a good dude and expert sharpener, .......... He was a pioneer and getting steels like CPM S110V etc hair whittling sharp back when it was believed these kinds of steels were incapable of getting to such levels of sharpness. Can you point me in the direction to this info? I'...
