Re: I'm feeling manix
If you have $60 for a regrind from BGM knives then that blade will be looking way better and cut way better as well. With the edge thinner it will also sharpen up faster to go along with better cutting ability, and the bevels will be far less pronounced at the equivalent angle to what you have on th...

Re: And how is your CQI Siren?
I got mine old Siren replaced on warranty last week and the new one looks pretty flawless. Flush lockbar and well centered.

Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
I have a Manix 2 CF/Cruwear that has very rough action. I sent it in to W&R rand it came back the same as I sent it. Now I’m thinking at minimum try new washers, but I don’t know where to find them. I do like the CF scales, but the AWT liner less scales look like a really nice option to eliminat...

I got one of the NGK ones, after failing earlier. They must be placing them out there one at a time, or maybe I got unlucky and they oversold. I guess we will see.

Be sure to report on how the 12 DPS edge holds up. If it works out well are you considering going more acute? I generally like running 10 D...

Re: Any interest in more tough steel options for the Yojimbo 2 and other thin edge models?
Still kinda regret passing on the BHQ M4 Yojimbo I’ve been very happy with my M4 Yojimbo 2. Cruwear would make me just as happy, but I am not loving the purple and black DLC on the DLT Yojimbo, or the smooth scales on the KC model. I think that tough and high hardness steels, AKA high edge stabilit...

Re: I need a SE Native Chief Salt in my life in the worst way.
I’d take a Magnacut SE Native Chief. Probably a PE too. I have been really happy with my S30V and Rex 45 Native Chiefs. Great slicers for the size and don’t hog a lot of pocket space.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I got very good results with pretty quick and dirty work on Atoma 140 and 600 grit plates at 15 degrees per side with a few light, slightly elevated passes at 17 degrees per side on a DMT XXF with my 15V Manix. Next time I’ll try to touch it up with the medium Spyderco rods and I’ll also see how 1 m...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Magnacut at 63-64 RC should be good, assuming they have dialed in the heat treat. We will see. Reprofiling on a TSProf definitely takes way longer than freehand on an extra coarse diamond stone. But obviously if your hands aren’t too steady freehand it can look a lot uglier than you’ll get on the TS...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I can feel the edge thicken up slightly as I go from spine to edge on my Magnacut Sebenza. I’m hoping I’ll be happy with the cutting and edge thickness one I make the angles much more acute. Knowing me I’ll probably want it reground. My drop point measures ~.020” behind a 20 degree per side edge for...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I’ve been using mine. Did a quick freehand sharpening (which I’m rusty at) and took the angle down to 15 degrees per side with a 140 Atoma, then 600 grit Atoma. I finished with a few very light passes at slightly higher angle around 17 degrees on a DMT XXF. Only took a few minutes and it was sharper...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Quick refresh to the edge on my most carried knife for the past couple months. Just a few swipes on a 1000 grit super vitrified diamond stone and a few more swipes on a strop loaded with 1 micron diamond. That's been my edge maintenance routine for this knife. Today I dressed the diamond stone (I d...

Re: KnifeCenter Manix 2 XL Cruwear/Smooth G10
I definitely like how my C95 Manix feels in my hand better than the Manix 2, and I expect my hand to also prefer the Manix 2 XL. I guess because my introduction to the Manix was the C95 I always thought of the Manix 2 as a Mini Manix, since it it the size of the old Mini Manix. I wear XXL gloves sin...

they have the same nub on the yojumbo. i just learned to move my finger out of the way before the blade fully closes. Same here. The first couple times I opened and closed the Shaman it got me, but after that my finger just moved to the part of the lock bar where I naturally moved my finger before ...

Re: KnifeCenter Manix 2 XL Cruwear/Smooth G10
I like it, may have to get one. I don’t like the smooth G10 though, so might need to look for some textured G10 scales.

Re: How to know if my new Siren is pre or post CQI?
Glad I found this thread. I know mine is pre CQI both by when I bought it, as well as it exhibiting the bad lock up as soon as tested it with my hand completely behind the lock. In use I noticed it, but thought it was just my hand depressing the lock. I left a message with W&R about it as it isn...

Re: Yojimbo 2 - few important questions
For me I have a Yojimbo 2 in M4 and it is excellent for EDC. The edge is actually thinner than my Para 2s were from the factory, and the hollow grind makes the tip and front part of the blade very efficient cutters compared to most production knives. I just got an S90V Yojumbo and it is also just as...
