Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

For what it's worth, I think the US killed the wrong guy. If they could have killed Tojo (which would have been much harder) there is some (small) chance that Yamamoto could have taken over the politics and ended the war. Perhaps that's true but IMO after Pearl Harbor and then the Japanese treatmen...

I admit that I really thought that reference would be immediately obvious to you.

Now that the Dawgs are out, the play offs are all 'Roll Tide' for me.

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

There is some argument as to whether this was legally a military battle or a targeted political assassination. I agree that some try to argue that but they are usually left leaning academics. There was nothing wrong legally or morally then or now with the decision to target the enemies command stru...

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

With the strength of the USA in terms of industry and resources, Japan lost that war the moment they started the shooting: it was just a matter of time. And they knew that before they launched the attack: "In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain I wi...

For those interested, the state of Alabama celebrates their very own version of St Nick every fall.
Really? What and where?
Alabama has this guy named Nick, who brings joy to the common people every fall, and tends toward red and white costumes.

Re: Remembering Santa Clause

St. Nick also was known to leave money in the shoes of the poor left outside for them to find in the morning. Is this the origin of the Christmas stocking? More general information, if anyone is interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas For those interested, the state of Alabama cele...

Did anyone watch the Florida State game? That was truly weird, and painful.

Re: NCAA Football 2023

Georgia finally looked like they were firing on all cylinders. I hope they can keep that going for the rest of the season (and the postseason). I wonder who is going to take the Texas A&M job? Everyone is talking about Dan Lanning, but if I were Lanning, I'd stay at Oregon for several more years...

I'd want a serrated, salt fixed blade. Probably the Jumpmaster 2.

The risk these days must be more a single missile from a rogue state or terrorist dirty bomb, in which case a full tank of fuel will probably suffice.
I'm not sure I'm as confident in that as you are. China and North Korea both have a lot more than one bomb.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

I remember dreaming of owning a Seecamp many years ago. I was never able to pick one up. Fortunately, tiny pocket pistols are now much more common. I own a Kahr in 380 that is very, very small, as well as a 9mm Kahr and the Sig P365, all for pocket carry. The site system on the Sig is pretty cool. I...

Re: NCAA Football 2023

Michigan now has three active investigations; 1). FBI seized computers and is investigating, but there is very little information. It seems like it might be a point shaving (betting) thing, where the OC was winning games and intentionally losing to the spread to make money? 2). Recruiting violations...

Re: NCAA Football 2023

I definitely don't see how the voters keep ranking Georgia first. Michigan looks much more impressive. If those two teams had played yesterday, I'm sure Michigan would have won. I'm a Georgia fan and I think they need to move down in the poll. Which would definitely help provide some motivation for ...
