Re: New PM2 lock stick issue
The lockbar does come in contact with the tang and i'm almost positive that that is 100% your issue right there. It definitely counts as a defect so you should send it in, in the meantime you can also try to take an abrasive to it and see if you can smooth it down to feel normal again, like using ei...

Re: What's your 2 knife EDC system?
I guess you can say I have a 2 knife system in my car. I have a fully serrated P3 in black and S30V which has a deep carry clip and emerson wave tucked in the center console, reserved for chance situations where something more robust/substantial is needed as well as just being an emergency backup ed...

Re: Custom DLC & handle colors, steels and handle materials
Does PVD still remain desirable knowing it wont hold as well as DLC? I know that for me personally, DLC is already right at about the threshold of how durable I'd prefer a coating to be, any weaker and I'd probably rather pass in favor of a natural finish.

Re: New Proposed Model - Spyderco Antilles
That shape almost makes it seem like it could work as a folding kitchen knife, that your knuckles can clear the cutting surface if you are using it as a chopper. Real practicality of that in something smaller is questionable until we actually find out, but it'd be pretty novel for sure, especially i...

Re: Spyderco and San Mai Steel.
San Mai is a phrase made up of two words - San means 3 in Japanese, and Mei means layers or pieces. When American companies translate/transcribe names and phrases considered common speech from other languages for purposes of marketing their goods + services, etc. the names or phrases are typically t...

Re: Favourite method to open PM2?
Pinch the lock and flick open This is IMO one of the better ways for a couple reasons: once skilled enough at this, deployment and closure becomes lightning fast, faster than any automatic opening mechanism and probably the fastest way to deploy a folder period. It also puts less wear on the contac...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment
Hm I can maybe see that on the Military, with its liner lock and big blade. I've got one from 2018 that isn't quite there though. Possibility could be that I am just a weakling though, I'm sure any other Military owner could confirm here if this was the case, no offense will be taken. I've noticed o...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment
A Spyderco? I dont think there are many Spydercos that open with inertia. I suppose the Autonomy 2 could be the closest thing, and that the reverse grip both edge in and edge out seem usable. I also have the Lil Temperance, I can agree that it is one of the better ones to use edge in. The thing is t...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment
Wow Mike thanks for sharing that site, I've always been looking for a place to get stuff like that for my Spyderco's. If their add-on wave is competitively priced as other options I'd probably prefer it as it still keeps the Spydie hole open fo your fingers to utilize it as you normally would. The s...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment
http://wisemencompany.com/fang/ I've found that carrying the knife closer your inseam (side of the pocket closer to your crotch) while using the emerson opener makes it so you have more options as far as what grip to have when you deploy. As far as the methods themselves, there isnt one much better...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.
This is a great thread. I just tripped over it doing Google searches on 4V steel. There is some back and forth fussing between various parties early on, but then some really tremendous information about geometry versus steel composition comes out. I think I learned more from this discussion than an...

Oh wow, that video might've just finally done it a proper representation. The reason why I asked was becuase all my previous research had led me to think otherwise. I don't doubt your experience with it at all hence why I asked.Pelagic wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:50 pm

Why not make a smaller Ikuchi... A "Mini-ikuchi" if you will... YES PLEASE - give it the GB Air treatment (silver twill and ti liners) and this would be my gent's to end all gent's... Pretty please Paul and Sal? +1 I realized a smaller size lets you butt up the end of the handle against y...

Re: Of all your Spyderco knives, which gives the best, smoothest cut?
I personally feel like fine grained steel, steel you can take to high polish really easily, like Superblue, LC200N, XHP also leave the cleanest line. The act of slicing is smoother with a carbide steel though. The Autonomy 2 is really something else, for practical purposes its by far the best Spyder...

It seems like it can be a rougher area from whatever they do to all the PM3 blades at that spot but yours is definitely a good bit rougher than any of mine

Theres costs of raw materials, costs of labor, costs of running the business itself, and then yes theres a thing called opportunity cost with is more like the value you would gain or lose had you used the labor or materials in a different way. edit: @albatross I usually start to form new opinions af...
