Re: Who got the SRS13?

imo, BTE thickness testing won't tell you much unless you can ensure the knives all have the same same edge. You’re quite right. They’d all need to be reprofiled to the same angle before an objective comparison could be made. Unfortunately, each factory sharpens differently, and I don’t reprofile a...

Re: Why no SE Mules?

Hi Coastal, Welcome to our Mule sub forum and thanx much for your interest. Our long term plan is to make a regular Mule Team model out of SPY27 that will be kept in stock. Eventually, we'll add a serrated version. sal That's great, I hope to buy one of both, since I've been wanting a SPY27 Mule Te...

Re: Who got the SRS13?

Nope. Was buried at work and missed that another Mule was coming this soon. Will have to pay post-release prices to get one. Entirely my own fault.

Re: PD1 Mule history help

PD#1, RWL-34, B70P, and PSF27, and PM A11 were all around for a long time. LC200N was around for less time, but was available for several months if I recall correctly. Given how long these sat on the shelf, I wasn't surprised at all that Spyderco stopped making Mules. I agree that people seem to be ...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date

Well that checkout process was painful. I love these fixed blades so I feel the effort was worthwhile. I'm curious to see if I notice any practical differences between this and and the pd1 variant. This may become my new fishing knife if the edge retention and stability are there. Fingers crossed t...

Got mine. A lot of refreshes and lost the page after I hit the payment button, but eventually got the order confirmation page.

I was surprised that green compound would do anything. It was making the edge noticeably shiny.
I would guess more burnishing than cutting.

Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife

Toughness and Edge Retention are inversely related to hardness... All things being equal, you will see less toughness and more edge retention with more hardness. I guess the way I said it was confusing. Toughness and Edge Retention have an inverse relationship to each other as hardness changes. My ...

Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife

Thanks Tom, for the kind words. Yupo, dendritic formation is the same for cobalt and steel. The actual structure might not be exactly the same, but the song remains the same... :) A Mule would be costly in investment cast 440C ( or other steel, or even cobalt) I have sold near-finished Serrata blan...

Re: Sharpening a Mule

Freehand or EdgePro. They are small enough, flat ground, with a slight belly that either one is relatively straightforward. I just sharpened a bunch of Mules on my EdgePro for some edge testing. Getting the same edge on all of with the the EP was fairly easy. I typically use diamond matrix stones. F...

Re: MT30P - Mule Team Featuring Z-Wear PM - Release Date

Edited... No Z-wear for me. UPS shows it was delivered to me on Aug 29. Spyderco says they got the package returned from UPS with no note as to why. Unfortunately, they sold my knife to somebody else. Checked with UPS. The delivery address they had was for Illinois, not Oregon. So either the tracki...

I’m still waiting. CC charged on the 24th and I am stateside.
Same here. In my experience it's unusual for Spyderco to take this long to ship. Of course Covid has changed things.

Re: Past Mule Teams

Hopeful, the straight spine Mule Team 28 Spy27 turns into a regular production piece. And then nobody'll be interested in it, because it's actually available? (Well, us Mule Team Sixers would be interested, but the rest of the world, ie, the flippers?) The mule team slowed up significantly from ear...

Re: Lost in the Shuffle

In my opinion, the build-quality of these three is on par with Golden, right down to etchings on the tang. Interest post. Agree on the quality. My D'Allara has excellent fit and finish. I'd love a D'allara with the Manix ball bearing lock cage. That round/smooth ball looks tough to actuate with glo...
