I have been jones-ing for a serrated-dodo for several years. I have not been able to snag one within my proletarian budget via the secondary market.
Sorry it's not a direct response to your question, JD - the SE Dodo is first on my list, that's all.

Re: Spyderco Manix 2 XL
I am going to go all retro-grouch and say that I prefer the original large Manix from yesteryear. I like the thickness of the handle and it seems more solid around the pivot to me. It seems like a sturdier knife for some reason when working with it, versus the Manix 2 XL. I don't dislike the XL - I ...

Re: Who would buy a cruwear Southfork?
You are a step ahead of me. I have long wanted a Southfork in S90V but have not been able to spare the funds. Any other steel would be fine too I reckon. I have a thing for S90V for some reason though.

Re: Tan Manix 2 M4
I think that the main reason that a buy-sell-trade forum is not allowed is that it undercuts Spyderco's dealers. That is also the reason that knives sold via Spyderco directly are at full MSRP. Secondly, if I were Spyderco, I would not have any interest in mediating disputes over sales and trades. H...

Re: Caly 3.5 or PM2?
I had to downsize my collection a bit and I still own a full-sized Caly, a Caly 3 Damascus, and a Caly 3.5 Super Blue. I don't own a PM2 anymore. I also have a Caly Jr., for what it's worth. The Caly 3.5 gets the most work among all of them. I really like both series. It's not a question of like or ...

Re: This place needs a revamp
It's great to always be mindful of courtesy and forum etiquette. Overall this is the best forum that I visit. It has had some less-than-stellar moments, some of which I have been a part of. I was just thinking the other day that things seemed to be lightening up a bit here. Maybe it's because I don'...

Re: Paramilitary Pivot Design-Terrible
I don't think that the opinion stated by the OP is necessarily "wrong". The guy has certain expectations of what a folding knife pivot should be. The way it was stated could have been reworded with a bit more tact. To call something "terrible" is a pretty strong negative statemen...

Re: Rubicon has dropped!!
S30V? For that much? I don't think so. I could see that MSRP if it used something like S90V/S110V/204P/etc... I don't particularly like recurve blades, either. No offense to anyone who wants one, just my opinion. [Hangs head in exhaustion] There. Is. More. To. The. Cost. Of. The. Knife. Than. The. ...

I am unclear on what you mean by "worn out". Is it blade play? Loose scales? Having the knife just come apart?

Re: Spyderco Tactical Pen?
I like nice pens but am the wrong guy to own them. I am hard on pens and tend to misplace them.
I would have no interest in a tactical pen. I have to confess that I am not sure I am clear on the concept of a tactical pen, since it's common knowledge that the pen is mightier than the sword anyway.

Thanks guys. I don't have a box for the 2nd one so I can't check the date. Thought it might be an example of the rolling change thing but I could not recall the models that were involved.

Quick Schooling Needed on the Spyderhawk
Hi folks - I just picked up a 2nd Spyderhawk SE in H1, used. My first one was purchased new about 2 years ago. The only difference between the two is that the used one has an allen or hex screw on one side of the pivot; whereas the one I bought new is pinned. When and why did Spyderco make this chan...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
I had a conversation with Charla in warranty/repair a few years back. She said that they often receive knives that are returned, for repair, that customers have tried to disassemble and have messed up. Sometimes Spyderco is called upon to untie knots that customers have made by trying to take their ...
