Benchmades, Ontario, Case, and Mission knives (for mine probing) are in the Fed Log with an NSN for ordering by the military. In Aircrew school at Pensacola, we were issued Camillus survival knives with sharpeners in the sheath. I carried a Bolo machete during survival school in addition to the pilo...

Nice knife, I carried it on my toolbelt at work for about a year. That got switched out for a Buck Strider (built like a tank) as I did not want to mess up the D'Allara. The D'Allara now resides in my flight helmet bag. The handle is the most three dimensional and thickest on a Spyderco. The fat han...

They should be stainless unless you're using very old carbon blades. Rinse in distilled water first, dip in 90% alcohol or acetone to remove the water, dip or spray with glycerin while on a paper towel or lab wipe. You could store them in the boxes used for microscope slides. That should keep them s...

"Walking out of the store, there were a lot of things running through my mind that I could have said, not the least of which would be "You mean to imply that the only reason I, or anyone else, would carry a knife is for stabbing someone!?!?" Then, a little voice in my head said it wa...

Not sure if you consider it EDC, but I do carry a SE Civilian in my leather motorcycle jacket pocket whenever I ride. So should I call it ERC for Every Ride Carry? I don't recall ever using it for cutting anything... I did pull it out at a gun show while in a discussion with a vendor and a few peop...

Being a Lefty, I really liked the Axis Lock and bought one as soon as they came out. It has fairly thick scales and cross section. But the G-10 is much better on the Spydies and the ball lock on the Dodo allowed me to carry a flatter profile and MUCH sharper ambidextrous knife.

Lost my Endura II SS SE about eight years ago while climbing around on some coastal rocks near Point Mugu in SoCal. It was clipped in my right rear jeans pocket.
I picked up a replacement at the next gun show. Exact same model, now used mostly for minor kitchen work.

Here is a reprint of my post from 4/5/06: "If you are set on taking a knife in your checked baggage, try to attach it with nylon zip ties to a hard part in your bag. Spyderholes are perfect for this and my suit bag has fixed metal rods for the hangars. Two or three zip ties around the handle an...

I have around thirty vintage straight razors, some I have reconditioned or repaired. Most I have used to shave with, but there are differences in the razors for different applications. My grandfather was a barber back in Canton, Ohio in the 1940s and I was able to get half a dozen of his straight ra...

Has anyone considered grease? I have used Militech's grease and also tried some copper anti-seize. The problem with them is the knife must be dissassembled to properly coat the bearing surfaces. This is no big deal for me as I routinely take my Spyders apart. Also, too much grease will attract dirt...

Mine was in a cardboard box and I think they were mainly sold thru The Cutlery Shoppe. That was back around 1992.

The knife was stolen in 2004. It had been retired on the advice of the factory due to a bad lock :(

Got a PE Hunter model with unchamfered solid stainless scales (the ones I prefer) bought around 1984. It sits in my desk drawer as my small task knife. The oldest carry knife I had was a SE Titanium Police ordered from the Cutlery Shoppe in 1993. My neighbor stole it during a break in a few years ag...
