First time I couldn't get the knife I wanted - the CRUWEAR micarta Shaman. I have not experienced that before. And I am a fan of srpints and exclusives. That was a turning point. Counterintuitively, it cured me of FOMO.

Makes me want to jump on that discontinued G10 Sage1.

Generally, I am OK with the stock scales. I do wish they were more chamfered. It is actually pretty simple mod if you want to do that yourself with sandpaper and/or something like Dremel. I would recommend doing so with water to avoid creating G10 dust. I have some experience with aftermarket scales...

You can try removing the scales and coating the tang in something like frog lube, then install the scales. That should help with any corrosion under the scales.
