Great photos - I really love the shapes & curves, and you're right - the green scales are something special too :) If it came in a sub 3-inch SLIPIT version then it would be top of my list to get :D

It's possible that the knife has been fitted with new scales ... but I agree, it would seem odd not to cut the slots for the clip on both sides ... looks very suspicious :( I would ask him about it but we can't buy knives from eBay over here - they blocked all UK bidders ... too much negative press ...

I read a while ago that America was particularly bad for lay-offs after the recession - American businesses laid-off staff very quickly as soon as the problems hit. In contrast, over in Germany their unemployment rate is hardly higher than it was before, mainly because big businesses were encouraged...

I think in Europe you'd find that Victorinox would be massively dominant in the EDC market - they are in every outdoors/sports shop. Over here if you say 'penknife' 99% of Joe Public will imagine a red-handled pocket knife with blade, bottle opener, scissors etc. Only knuts like us would even think ...

I rather like it, for what it is ... and to me it looks like a good knife to have around the kitchen or in camp, to dice up and prepare food ... so a nice folding kitchen knife :) I wouldn't EDC one because I think there are better all-purpose knives but I am sure this does what it is supposed to do...

Personally, I prefer PE - it just looks better to me and less aggressive. On a practical level I seldom need serrations but I can see that if you are cutting rope or tough, fibrous material then it could be useful but for an all-round slicing, whittling, cutting knife I think PE is enough. It might ...

My first would have to have been the Tenacious - everyone was raving about how good it was and I was very impressed. So impressed that I think I snagged my original Foliage Green UKPK soon after and that became my EDC :) Then a very nice D'Allara came up in the BritishBlades Classifieds ... a really...

I've never actually lost a knife but my girlfriend managed to lose my treasured UKPK in January - ultimately my fault though, I know  It all had a very happy ending though, courtesy of Sal, who saw my story on the BritishBlades forum, took pity on me (we had all been distracted helping my ...

+1 on the SLIPIT ... I am biased but I think in a completely free world we'd all like locks but more and more places are restricting the use of lock-knives and a knife as good as a Sage shouldn't be a drawer-queen. Non-lockers are just as functional for cutting tasks - they only get less-so when doi...

The way I read it, it was the Taiwanese factory that was having QC problems, not Spyderco. AFAIK customers haven't had problems because knives were thoroughly checked by Spyderco QC and only the good ones were sent to be sold, so any that were at dealers would have been A1 :)

I don't care where they're made to be honest - I trust Sal & the :spyder: people to choose the best manufacturer. There are always going to be problems in any supply chain and Spyderco have proven yet again that they can make the right decisions and that their eye is always on maintaining qualit...

Carbon Fiber is a gimmick, and not worth the money while G-10 scales are just as good, if not better and cost less I kinda agree but I think CF is preferred for some knives because it's often given a polished, classy finish - more suitable to a 'gentleman's folder' that you might put in a jacket po...

It would be very sad to see such excellent designs completely abandoned before they've even gotten a true chance to shine. I absolutely agree - especially the Chicago. Perhaps the good blade steel could be retained but the scales made from G10, which has proven easier for factories to reproduce mor...

I started a very similar thread on BritishBlades about this recently and Grace reminded me of those threads where she was invited behind the scenes. As a knife-maker herself I think she was given special dispensation and I can't imagine that Sal has got the time to show all the fans around the facto...

I'd like to see them continue at the same price point but with the intended quality and less expensive scale materials. If these models are intended to be entry level priced but quality has to be sacrificed to keep it there, the fancy carbon fiber is the most obvious thing to axe. Hopefully the pri...
