Sal, I don't think being subtle or anything less than in your face direct gets through to this guy. Vassili, you are in a hole (for the umpteenth time) stop digging. Apologise for annoying everyone with your attitude and settle down. Start showing a little respect for others and try to contribute wi...

I seem to remember that the early S60V (CPM 440V) knife blades were hardened to 58+ on the Rc scale and this caused issues (issues I also identified). I also remember that testing showed reducing the Rc hardness to 54-55 Rc had almost no effect on the edge holding but made the blades far more durabl...

Wow I got told to learn how to sharpen. Classic. You really need to find out more about who you insult next time. :D Oh and this comment is class "I can sharpen any steel in same time and see no difference" So all steels have the same wear resistance then? Or it takes you hours ...

Yes, I heard about that mate. I am hoping it will put to bed the niggles I have with S30V.

Run the serrated face side down slowly on the white corners of the Sharpmaker stones at the 40 degree setting. Once you form a burr on the back side of the edge. pass that side of the blade over the white corner 3 or 4 times, gently. Do this until the burr has gone. Then do 4 passes on the face and ...

"CPM S30V was huge step back from CPM S60V" Good grief, did you really type that rubbish? CPM 440V AKA S60V was a totally different steel to S30V. It was a much more difficult steel to sharpen, far more fragile and really not at all suited to even a moderately hard use knife. On...

Basically, I would like an alternative to S30V for Golden (and Taiwan) :spyder: s that has similar properties to VG-10: Is easy to sharpen to a very fine edge Holds that very fine edge for a good amount of time Has excellent corrosion resistance I just got a CTS-XHP Manix 2, and can finally test th...

Wow, how new are you? Spyderco make knives in several countries. ;)

It does sound like your dealer is charging you a lot though. I would shop somewhere else and not moan about it on here.

That's exactly what I thought! So I bought a SE Pacific, only to find that it Does Not Cut. Well, it cleanly slashes through stuff pretty well because the edge is fairly sharp, but it gets bogged down in cardboard and can't slice through paracord to save its life. The way the teeth are cut on mine ...
