I'll put in another vote for the Sharpmaker. It comes with a DVD that you can watch and really learn.

What I like about both knives is the amount of blade you get. Both are very stylish in their own right and are heavy duty gentlemens folders/flippers.

I'm excited to try out the 204p. As for flippers, I am sensing a shift in Spyderco's design. The Southard kept the hole as tradition but the flipper is obviously the main deployment vehicle. Broadening the customer base is always a good idea.

That's good to hear. The VG10 on my Delica sharpens up real nice on the Sharpmaker. The S30v takes a bit longer but it's not too hard either. The steel on the Southard was a big reason I picked it up. IMO, the Southard could be a large gentlemens folder. The style lends credence to that. I'll have t...

I never travel with the big knives. I have a SAK in my ditty bag. Hopefully that won't be a problem but no big loss if they take it. I enjoy CDO. Lots of malls and nice hotels. The place is having a construction boom at the present but then again the whole country seems to be building up. Back to Sp...

Another newcomer to the Spyderco forums

Greetings to all. I am a expat currently in SE Asia enjoying retirement. I used to have a Gerber Folding Sportsman I purchased in 1976. Great knife. As luck would have it, that knife walked away during moving. So I picked up a Spyderco Delica 4 and that has become my everyday utility go to knife. Th...
