Re: It's time... for a new Millie in CPM-Cru wear
There are hardly any people here who get into this hobby and it'll be fun to meet and talk a bit about knives and tools. I am curious how many spyderco fans are coming from NL. Maybe i will meet some at the Amsterdam event. Anyway, the millie is dangerous... i thought it would be to big for my tast...

Re: It's time... for a new Millie in CPM-Cru wear
Consider a military a responsible purchase. It looks big and it is but it is so well designed you swiftly forget about the size. The blade length allows you to do allot more than a PM2 can. The only problem you may encounter is you will not carry a Paramilitary 2 or a para3 again. I know because it...

Re: It's time... for a new Millie in CPM-Cru wear
In my country (NL) there is someone offering a cruwear sprint millie for about 155 eur. (ye ye expensive - keep in mind regular millies go for 230 ish here). It's the '13 version and I hope I can pick it up. Have to wait for my paycheck this month as December cleaned me out. It's pretty rare to come...

Re: Polishing Washers
Great Post Jacksonknives, I've copied it into my personal compendium on sharpening. I wholly agree that even though high precision polishing of washers is desired instead of letting the pivot do the job. In spydercos perhaps less so then half of my Benchmades but it does make a big difference in eas...

Re: Pros & cons of Cruwear?
Just touched up the cruwear pm2 BRIEFLY on a 1200 grit DMT stone, grabbing arm hairs without touching skin. It's truly a pleasure to sharpen. Couldn't agree more! I find myself looking for reasons to sharpen my cruwear but it's hard to improve on hair popping sharpness and I don't want to waste the...

Re: Pros & cons of Cruwear?
Everything cruwear gets an automatic buy from me. Got 2 pm2 In it and a para 3. They hold up tremendously well in the field. Sharpening is very easy. Even a novice and a sharpmaker can get this steel hairshaving sharp. When I got my para 3 the detent was insane. I opened it by spydieflick and the wh...

Re: Ikuchi
Really looking forward to this. I've started new work which doesn't require the hard use I've put my past knives through. I've been carrying a sage 5 a lot recently when I'm not carrying the standard caly 3 HAP40, alongside this pakkawood Endura. I'm leaning towards the sage 5 more and more nowadays...

Re: The Gauntlet Stands Revealed
This is exactly what I do. Edge pro for the refining of bevels, and I have my sharpmaker screwed down with all rods lying nlext to it and whenever I walk past it I'll pull a few strokes past uf rods to get it to peak performance again. Just today I took my sage 5 through medium, fine and uf stones t...

Re: Ikuchi
I like the look of this knife for the price. On the other hand, I have a Boos Blades Smoke, which is one of my favorite knives, and this seems pretty similar in many ways. Edge length: Smoke 3.42 in, Ikuchi 3.18 in. Handle length: Smoke 4.45 in, Ikuchi 4.35 in. Weight: Smoke (CM1) 2.35 oz, Ikuchi 2...

Re: Your top 5 Sal Glesser designs?
Thanks for the detailed reply you are certainly a hard knife user! Well I do also pull out the sage 5 at home when I need to open a bag of cat food every so often so it varies ;) but that's the nice thing about spyderco. Function over form isn't just a slogan I've come to appreciate, it absolutely ...

Re: Your top 5 Sal Glesser designs?
I am curious What are your tasks? I have found this knife in VG10 to be surprisingly capable. Have it in ZDP189 also as well as a recent Stetch 1 in HAP40 and Tofuku coming in. Going to take some microscope pics of the freshblades before using. Yes it is an addiction! :) I should have put that bett...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Loved reading your work to make it better, thanks for sharing that. Nice pictures but I would swear if I din't own two of them your Sage 5 is at-least a 4 inch blade. Oh now that would be a nice Knife. Imagine a Sage 6 with a cutting surface of 3.75 Inches. Thanks! I love reading this stuff from ot...

Re: Your top 5 Sal Glesser designs?
If the caly 3 was indeed designed by Sal glesser, it would easily take all spots for me. Before I joined here 2 years ago I didn't much look into the maker, but more to what I could expect from a brand. I think all the great ones have been named already but I have to speak up about the caly 3 sprin...

Nothing for today. LOLLL! Heathen! You wouldn't leave home without clothes either right! Joking aside, I've actually drove back home once or twice if I noticed I forgot my knife. Gives me a naked feeling after a decennia of daily carrying. I just overhauled my sage 5 yesterday. Always loved the kni...

The red m390 after having carried the rex 45 one since it released. Among this, the rex 45 one or the Gray cruwear sprint I can't pick a favorite anymore.

Re: price increase?!
I haven't really noticed a price increase in Europe, specifically the Netherlands. A pm2 in s30v was €170-175 years back and still is now. I did notice the price increases on USA based stores. Does this mean eu prices have been overcharging all along? Perhaps. I'm wondering how this will go on in th...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?
There is absolutely no shame and zero wrong with choosing to use a guided system. I know there are a minority of free handers in the knife world who look down their noses at people using guided systems and that is unfortunate. I'm just thrilled when knife folks decide they want to keep their knives...
