Vegans and Vegetarianism and the Animal Rights Issue
I know this issue can become very controversial but I would like honest discussion on it. What are your thoughts everyone? My stance is this: I have no problem with someone choosing to eat only a plant based diet and not eat meat or animal products, that is their right and their choice. Myself, I e...

Can a human live on nothing but meat?
I was reading about this explorer who lived with the Inuit/Eskimos decades ago and lived on their diet which if I read correctly consisted almost completely of meat and blubber/fat from the various animals they hunted, without alot of plant and vegetable matter, and he was healthy, as far as he was...

Knife blades penetrating car doors: Reasonable Strength Test or Not?
I will not drop the name but a well-known knife company that manufactures very good quality blades is known to use their knives to pierce the steel of car doors, to show how strong and sharp and resilient they are. I'm asking all of you fellow knife enthusiasts here: Is this test a true measure of ...

Spyderco Dagger: Has Spyderco ever made or will it make a true dagger?
As far as all of you know, has Spyderco ever produced a true double-edged dagger blade on any of its knives? I know some of them almost approximate a dagger, such as the Warrior. Would Spyderco ever produce say a double edged boot knife or dagger blade?

Why do some knives get discontinued?
Is it basically an issue of not enough market demand for that particular model of knife versus the cost of having to produce them and the cost of manufacturing those production tools?

Thank you, SolidState. I would like your take on this question: Starting with what we have now, the current state of the art in nano and micro technology, AND, the advancing fields of genetic engineering and protein design and biotechnology, what is a good pathway, from how you see things, to get f...

H-1 Steel: What other, NON-KNIFE uses are there?
Aside from high-quality knife blades, does anyone here know of any other applications for H-1 Stainless Steels? Do they use them for any construction purposes or in medical or surgical equipment or food processing and service?

Spyderco Knives vs Dangerous Animal Attacks!
First of all, I do NOT advocate someone intentionally endangering themselves in order to test any of this. That being said, I would like your feedback: In having to fight, hand to hand, the following known wild and deadly animals, what particular Spyderco knife would you consider would be best in f...

It is evil and nonsensical. They already have laws that go after a truly violent criminal but the real agenda is to disarm the public completely. They push anti knife laws. It is a direct attack against the individual freedom and the Constitutional rights of citizens. They want to ban guns and lock...

G-10 Handles: Is it me or do they feel too "rough"?
I was feeling the handle of some of the G10 glass laminate material, and I know FRN also is fiberglass but with nylon, but, the G 10 stuff just feels somewhat rough. Not as grippy as the FRN or Zytel.

What Spyderco do Fire-Fighters prefer?
What Spyderco knives do most professional firefighters prefer to use? I would assume various Rescue and Endura models? Thank you for your service, to all of the First Responders on the forum! I have a related question: I did not read yet about this: At what temperature does the FRN of most Spyderco...

Spyderco Tasman Salt: Survival Value? Hawkbill good for survival and EDC uses?
Would the Hawkbill of the Tasman Salt be good for emergency survival purposes or would it get in the way. I'm thinking uses such as carving wood, making fires, skinning and cleaning game animals and fish, etc. I know it would be excellent for emergency defense and for cutting line, cord, rope, fibr...

Administrators, I hope it is not against the forum rules for me asking this on here, if it is, please forgive me, I apologize. Kraton Handle Slabs/Scales for Spyderco?
Out of curiosity, have the design folks at Spyderco ever considered the ups and downs of Kraton rubber handle scales for any of the knives? I have seen some folding knives that use these instead of FRN and I would like everyone's views on whether a line of Spydercos with Kraton would be a good idea...

More on Nonsensical Knife Bans: It really hurts me.
I know others have discussed this but it is worth mentioning again. I just do not understand, I cannot find any logical or common sense or reasonable stretch of the imagination as to why entire populations of people would support the ban against man's most fundamental and original tool, the knife. ...
