Re: Odd milestone - who took all the g10?
G10 is more than just fine, but for me personally FRN/FRCP is just even better. And I am lucky enough that most of the designs I like do come in FRN/FRCP anyway.. :) Though I'd take them all in G10 either, no doubt ...me, too. Give me a "plain Jane", FRN, VG-10 Endura, and I'm more that s...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
I haven't tried all that Spyderco offers but here are my top 3 : 1) Vg-10...Vivi "nailed it", jack-of-all-trades. 2) D2...ubiquitous, generally less expensive than Cts xhp, and holds a good working edge for a fairly long time. Good price to performance ratio. 3) M390/20CV/204P.."top t...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
....I have been thinking about a stainless endura for quite some time. When I found this with the etched pattern "that was that", as they say. Gota love those saber grinds for utility work. This one will get much pocket time, I think.

Re: Would you buy a Catcherman 2?
No...they would most likely retail for around $169 and that would be too much for me to spend on a fish knife. What leads you to believe it would cost $55 more than a similarly sized police 4? ....the Police4 has a VG-10 blade. H1 or LC200N, and the cost of an FRN mould will surely add on costs. If...

Re: POLL: Return of the SpyderSaw? Single bladed or as part of a Dyad?
I have one of the originals and they are handy and were reasonably priced. But today I'm not so sure ....I can buy a Silky Saw Pocket boy 130 for about $35. A current production Spydersaw would be in the $150 range, most likely. And by the way, if push-comes-to-shove It's the Bahco Laplander that I ...

Re: enuff 2!!!
I'd prefer if the enuff remain in the spirit as it I believe it was designed...a small utility fixed blade. So I'm not interested in "thrusting action", or a super slicer. I think that the blade thickness should remain the same...I'd just like to see the blade an inch longer. It would be n...

Re: Hard truths and observations
the whole point of this thread is that the price for the shaman is outrageous. lots of people feel that way. a few online reviewers made update videos saying they thought it was a good value when they purchased them, but now not so much. and that was before the 2019 increase. you all can jump on th...

Re: It's time for a new Calypso!
In my opinion the full-size Calypso needs to be updated with serrations on the thumb ramp and the choil like the Caly 3 and 3.5. The last sprint run needed those refinements. JMHO I'm thinking that the pinned scales and lack of serrations were conscious choices to keep the price low. If I remember c...

It would be nice if eBay would run those deal until midnight. By the time I get dinner on the table, get the grandkids started on their homework, then ready for bed, these deals have come and gone, when I find out them.

Well, this misunderstanding seems like a good template for how rational folks can conduct themselves. I feel good about being part of a group of such d...

Re: Spyderco Saw?
The MSR was $47.50 on the Spyder Saw...I think I bought mine at closeout for $29. When was the last time you remember a Spyderco sell new for that price? :) It insn't very adequate for anything much thicker than your thumb. Soon after I got the Spyder Saw I bought a Bahco Laplander and never looked ...

Re: changes in blade thought across the years
Probably like many in my age group my first knife was an "official" Cub Scout pocket knife. I know from time to time the contractor would change, and if I'm not mistaken mine was made by Ulster. Although I couldn't swear by it...I know my brother had a Scout folding knife that I think was ...
