SE in any type of Spyder

You can list folders, fixed blades and specialty blades like the Salt Series that you all would like to see in Spyderedge.

Remembering just how great the original Catcherman was/is in Spyderedge that's one I truly wish could make a comeback in full SE ( especially in H-1).

C-44 the Do-All Blade

That's an easy one>> For a Spyder folder it would be my C-44 big Dyad model. For a fixed blade it is my original FB-05 Temperance model. What scares the **** out of me I beileve that scenerio you described is about to come upon us shortly ( GOD help us :( ). You had better have several blades and eq...

Spyders You Would Like to see in SE?

My very first Spyder was a fully serrated, GIN-1 Mariner (1995). I immediately gained a huge respect for Spyderco's Spyderedge ( serrated) blades. For the longest time you could get just about get any of the great Spyderco models in Spyderedge. But here in the past 3 years or so that has somewhat ch...

Glesser, Lum, Centofante & Boguszewski

Well Today with all due respect I have represented in my pocket the late Mr. Bob Lum and one of my favorite knife designers of the last decade Mr. Sal Glesser. And Yes I like Eric. The Dodo is one of my all time favorite specialty knives. And I can't forget Mr. Centofante with the legendary C-50 :co...

The Harpy is a good Hawk to start out with

how good are hawkbillls at food prep? Do they slice onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc. ? On canoe trips thats the main use of a knife. I'm thinking of getting either a sage 3, tasman salt se, or a aqua salt se for diving and canoe trips. Sage wouldn't get much use though but it's awesome. Help? Hawkbi...

Useful for general cutting, but not culinary

how good are hawkbills at slicing food? Would one be good for food prep. (slicing onions and peppers) on a canoe trip? There are some types of food processing that Hawkbills are good for. Like trimming onions and garlic for instance. But as far as being a premium culinary knife I don't tout them fo...

What a find!!!

Bohica you rascal :D !!! Where in the heck did you get that Buck linoleum knife :D I got one of those myself after looking for almost 2 years. I thought I was the only one in the northern hemisphere that even still had one  I do like that line up that you've presented us because it sure makes n...

Worth Considering

I haven't spoken up yet, cause I hadn't really seen a FB Hawkbill that I liked yet (Although that Boomerang is starting to grow on me!). Then I saw this. Personally, I like this design. The bonus 'wire/rope/cable cutter' on the back of the blade seems like it would be a real plus! (Plus, there's ev...

I often use my Cricket (sort of a hawkbill) to remove wrist bands. The curvature of the back of the blade helps from poking yourself when sliding it next to your skin. Sure you can classify Reverse-S blades such as the Cricket, Matriarch, Civilian ect as a Hawkbill blade. They really are in many as...

Taking precautions

Funny that this thread would come up because I'm now doing a modificationi on some of my jeans, overalls, shorts that I work in to prevent that from happening. I'm going to tighten clips and locktite screws and maybe explore the possibility of an inner pocket. Just about a month ago I had the scare ...

Hawkbill Uses? Let'

It's been a while ( a long while at that) since we've done a thread exclusive to the multifaceted uses of Hawkbill blades. Most of us find uses through trial and error and by happenstance. Also I've found Hawkbills better than standard blades by chance and by using what was handy at the time. Hawkbi...

Hawkbill uses? Many!!

Forgive me, but I've always thought that hawkbills were designed to be used to cut rope and such, and that the serrations on it would make it hard to use for camping, which is what my knives usually are used for. That, and an array of other everyday things. Will a serrated hawkbill work for camping...

Specific cutting jobs

They definitely have their uses...just don't try to skin a deer with one ;) Good point Evil D :) First and foremost all knives regardless of design, geometry, grind type, or size are very simply tools. Hawkbill knives are tools designed for certain cutting chores and are not much good for many othe...

Fixed Blade Superhawk sounds great

I agree fully spyderco would bring the beef. I've thought of getting said knife as a "backup". I would love to see a 4mm flat ground hawkbill fixed blade. Maybe a 3.5 to 4inch blade. I wouldn't mind a choil either but I couldnt complain if it didn't have one. Also just dropped a HUGE hint...

Welcome to the clan

Well Jesting Devil we're glad to have you aboard :D May I recommend a pair of Tasmans to start out with. Unless you would be lucky enough to grab one of the early series G-10 handled Harpys. I would recommend you get one in each edge variant (plain edge and Spyderedge :cool :) . You definitely event...

Ceya's Hawk or Fixed Blade Superhawk?

I also remember a prototype that one of our long time Spyder-Brothers presented us with quite some time ago. It was referred to as "Ceya's Hawk". It was a really nice fixed blade Hawkbill but had a very slight curve to it ( not as much as I wanted) but with more curve could have been a gre...

Similar competition: No big deal, no problem

As much as I like the idea...I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon....Sal and Company have a lot of projects on the table, and to see one like this come into being...probably would take a long time coming...Sal might even suggest you find a custom maker to make you one, like he did in the F...

i would buy at least 3 or 4. please offer in black as well though :D ! JD SPydo, I LOVE the way you think and enjoy your threads. Hawkbills are probably my favorite blade shape - Yeah You're right "pmbspyder" because I can truly see where some people would highly prefer a black handle. Su...
