Re: Musing on slipjoints...

I've already made my point clear when I've created the thread, but as they say... A picture is worth a thousand words: https://www.spyderco.com/pix/products/large/C127OR_L.jpg A CQI'ed version of this, made in Golden, BD1N and burnt orange G10 scales (like the ones on the recent REX45 sprints) makes...

Re: Which steel "spoiled" you?

For me, it was S90V. That stuff is the most balanced high carbide stainless I'm aware of. It holds an edge for a respectable amount of time and sharpens fairly easily. The aggressive edge it takes, combined with the ease of sharpening is what made me fall in love. This is literally the first time I...

Re: Musing on slipjoints...

The Pingo was a Vox design, and that other one discontinued in 2017 with all the holes (name escapes me) was also a collab. My brain isn't what it used to be... I actually own the Pingo and completely forgot it was a Vox/Ansø collab  I would love if they got a hold of Jens Ansø and/or Jesper V...

Re: Musing on slipjoints...

I'd like less utilitarian and more fancy slipjoints. Less frn and g10. Do titanium, wood, etc. Do a slippie model like the chaparral. 52100, cruwear, 3v, m4. Call back to trasiditionals with non-stainless. Maybe some slipjoint collabs. Would kill for a Slysz slippie. I agree with most of what you'r...

Musing on slipjoints...

I'll just lay it all on the table... Spyderco did an incredible job on the newest red G10 UKPK sprint run. There is literally nothing I would change about it, not even the "boring" blade steel (yes folks, S30V works perfectly fine... shocking, I know). Between fit and finish, the G10 and t...

Never fear, Spyderco is here!. They are working on a 2.45" non-locking knife, from what I remember.

Hum... This is certainly news to me. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get that sweet piece of information from?

Re: The new REVEAL is out ! Hey Doc, our AEB-L Urban is coming !

There is a FB group I belong to that has a lot of members in the UK. Slipjoint Spydercos are very popular. I expect the new Urban, in a new steel choice, to be very popular. Shoot I'm not limited on the type of knife I carry & I find myself interested in the new Urban. I use to own one of the o...

Hi Mzen, Some people are afraid of points on knives. sal Wow... I certainly didn't see that one coming haha But after giving it some thought, taking into account that I'm living in Germany at the moment and being aware of the stabbing epidemic that is going on in the UK, maybe a cheap, quality kitc...

Re: Z-Cut Spyderco Food Prep Knife in BD1N!

Can anyone enlighten me on the particular uses or advantages of the bullnose plain edge version of these knives? The serrated one strikes me as a very effective bread knife (among other uses), but as for the other... Skinning and boning maybe?

I think it was still stuck on 'private' when I first posted it. It should be public and viewable now. Mr Blonde, thank you very much for showing us the goods, these threads are always a joy to go through. I know you are not allowed to discuss a lot of what you've seen, but can you say if there was ...

Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive

They are screwed, but are the pivots D shaped? I have one Urban that simply refuses to be taken apart because of a free spinning pivot, but to be honest I haven't had much luck in that department when it comes to Spyderco knives made in Italy. My hope is, since this one comes from Golden, that maybe...

Hawkbill serrated blade + LC200N: Yay or nay?

I have been wondering lately about how much of an improvement it would be compared to your tried and true H1, particularly on a serrated Hawkbill style blade. So we are probably looking at improved edge retention, but maybe a bit less toughness and slightly more difficult to sharpen. I don't have an...

Re: Which Spyder folder is the toughest; will take the most abuse?

I've seen a couple of references to the Gayle Bradley 1... Is it considered superior compared to the Gayle Bradley 2? I never took the time to properly investigate the differences between them, outside of the obvious finger choil area.

Re: 2019 New Product Reveal!

Mr. Sal Glesser, if you are wandering around this thread, I would love to get a couple of questions answered: First: What kind of washers (if any) does the Para 3 LW have? I guess there might be some phosphor bronze in there, or did you manage to get a nice and smooth compression lock action without...

Re: Figured out why I prefer g10 scales

As someone who used a ZT 0220 at work for quite some time, I can tell you from experience that titanium handles are definitely not the best option if you need to use a folding knife several times a day during harsher than normal conditions. First and foremost, it is more slippery than G10, so I did ...

If you don't have the diamond stones then by all means get them.
Aren't the CBN stones supposed to pretty much do the same job as the diamond ones? At least, all the info I've read on them lead me to believe that.

Re: REX45 + Sharpmaker: wise or foolish?

I’d say buy the knife you want. :) You obviously have enough skill to sharpen the knives you own so you won’t have any trouble sharpening anything else. Though I wouldn’t really want to reprofile anything with a SharpMaker alone and that’s only because I’m a little impatient and spoiled having an e...

REX45 + Sharpmaker: wise or foolish?

Hello everyone, I'm basically having a **** of a time figuring out which Para 3 to get, since my only sharpening equipment is the Sharpmaker (plus CBN stones). Right now I'm undecided between the brown S35VN and the burnt orange REX45 models. Since the ship has sailed on the Cruwear version (profoun...

Re: Updated shaman sprint steel poll

Not so sure about that... Many are going wacko for the Para 3 in REX 45 and I've seen countless examples of people who really aren't fans of that model. The Shaman is pretty much loved by most folks, Cruwear is still a "hot" steel for many, all of that combined with micarta handles which h...

Re: Updated shaman sprint steel poll

Only 1000? I've been dreaming of a combination like this sprint for my work, but I doubt I'll even get a chance to pre-order it... Plus I'm in Europe, making things even more difficult. Try to push as many out as you can Sal, otherwise the forums will turn into heartbreak nation.
