Thanks Doug!

I actually passed on this a couple of times, but finally came to my senses. Looking forward to my first Manix.

I just did an Ebay search for "Spyderco Paramilitary" and limited the results to sold items. There are several sellers who seem to be moving a suspicious amount of volume considering the limited stock allocated to even the most reputable dealers...

I can't speak to the Seto knives, but a while ago I was looking around for something to use as a plain edged steak knife. I settled on a pair of carbon Opinel paring knives. I prefer the way they cut to my serrated knives. They do have to be sharpened frequently, but frankly the practice is good for...

Lol, never thought I would feel inadequate because my knives aren't small enough...

The best I could do is a SAK Cadet. I also have a couple of Classics somewhere around here, but they are my kid's.

Thanks. I didn't check to see if it was rated waterproof, lol. I actually bought the LD-01 for my wife a couple of years ago, my mistake (or brilliance :D ) was buying the combo pack that came with a purple E01. I told her she should carry the LD on her keys and maybe just keep the E01 in her car as...

A little away from the current discussion, but I pulled some jeans out of my dresser yesterday and my LD-01 was clipped to the pocket. It appears that it was missed and went for a ride through the washer and dryer. I unscrewed it and checked for moisture, it seemed completely dry inside. Turns out i...

For all the guys who have used both, what does Cruwear give you that M4 doesn't? I know you have to take manufacturers data with a grain of salt, but refer to this chart: http://www.crucible.com/eselector/general/generalpart9.html It compares CPM versions of Cruwear (at RC 60) with M4 (at RC 62). F...

I get that, and I bought the Herder solely for the geometry because I had never used anything like it. (I do like the handle too though.)

I hope I can find something similar and readily available, so that I can compare them and also give a few away to friends.

I did, but like I just said it isn't easy to separate the garbage from the quality based on the brief descriptions given for these knives and I don't really want to buy a dozen to find a couple of gems. I'll look around locally instead when I have a chance. If anyone has experience with these fruit ...

Google is your friend, it took me around 15 seconds to pull up a bunch of different types... Awesome! It should be really easy to post an example then. I would really appreciate it, as I am finding it difficult to identify which ones out there are zero ground, relatively hard, and generally on par ...

Well said, Laethageal. That is the essence of my confusion here as well. I know Ankerson and Cliff have their disagreements, but I thought he would be enthusiastic about the geometry on this knife.

 You can certainly buy $4 and under paring knives at the grocery store, and I have, but I can hardly believe you of all people would be arguing that the two are equivalent, lol. Maybe you have better grocery stores than me, I don't know. I have an old $1-2 "Kitchen Essentials" pa...

Reread the thread, I probably should have done that earlier, lol. I guess you are mostly saying the market is too limited? I guess I can see that. I still think this particular paring knife is different though, and I hope that there is a market for knives like it here outside of niche customs. I do ...

This thread is actually pretty amusing because there is nothing new or even innovated at all here..... As someone who frequently has blades reground and clearly appreciates the importance of geometry, I am curious why you would say this? As noted above and as I have just discovered myself, even som...

Oh, it's on now :)

Unfortunately, the festival doesn't open until Aug 30th, but I need some turkey legs this year. It's about time for my boy to see some medieval jousting as well.

I've been to that Renaissance Festival many times as well. Those turkey legs are worth the price of admission all by themselves, imo.

It's also great fun to slide a $20 to the Professional Insulter and set him on an unsuspecting friend. He's really good :D
