Tight Caly3.5 - worth bothering with?

I just bought my first Caly3.5. It's a decent little knife, but I have a couple issues with it. First--and I know this isn't important--is the clip. It's the same style clip as on the Manix2 Lightweight, but on the M2L I had, the clip looked... Uh... nice . On my new Caly3.5, the clip is dull, sort ...

I drink wine every day, but I almost never use a blade to cut off the foil. I use one of the dedicated foil cutters that uses a few cutting wheels, like this one . (Not that exact one; I only pointed to that as an example.) The foil cutter I use makes it incredibly easy, and is safer than a blade ev...

This morning USPS said out for delivery. ... Somehow I doubt "every effort" is being made. The joy is in the waiting, right? Hah, yeah--I've tried to love USPS but they make it rrrrrreally difficult sometimes. Their online tracking system sucks terribly too, in my experience. The lag betw...

I'm replying but too lazy to quote... I've already carried Ernie. I don't believe in "safe queens". I'm not a collector. Unlike with my Smurf, the blade on Ernie is ground very well and it's sharp as can be. It's a bit tight but not too bad. When I switched the clip around, I found the cli...

Just got mine... Looks like a few of you beat me to it. Figures that USPS was 4 hours later than usual today. That's happened maybe one other time in the past 3 years. I took a couple pics but the attachment thing on this forum is too frustrating for me... Not like they're needed anyway at this point!

A little thread resurrection to notify all those subscribed to it... I got a call from Jeff yesterday (April 6). The first batch of orange PM2s will be in his hands early next week (probably April 10) and will be shipped out in FIFO order. Those who preordered will have to provide payment informatio...

My Smurf PM2 is exactly like the OP's PM2. When I bought it, the pivot was on the tight side. I lubricated it (FrogLube), and adjusted the pivot. I found I could either have a nice, loose, super-easy-swinging blade with a small--and I mean tiny --amount of side-to-side play, or a blade with no side-...

I can't believe I'm saying this, because I'm on the neurotic/anal side when it comes to wanting things I buy to be "right", but I don't mind reasonable "imperfections" in my hand-ground blades. My Smurf has bevels that are mismatched enough to be obvious to the naked eye (at leas...

Zero chance I'll be mentioning my Delicas after Deacon's post. What does something like that cost, roughly?

If you're a steel junkie, you'll prefer the M390. If you're a casual user, you'll likely be happy with the XHP. (XHP a lot easier to sharpen) Sonny Really? I have a Smurf PM2 with M390, and I find it very easy to sharpen. I can't imagine XHP being "a lot easier to sharpen" than that. But ...

I have 9 and when the Ernie PM2 arrives (hopefully in April), that will make it 10. (I'm good at math, huh?) Before reading the responses here, I was thinking I was an oddball in the smallish number I have. If I'm being honest, there are a few I really can't justify having purchased.

Unless, like me, you don't like liner locks and/or tip-down. We're back to naming our favorite colors.

His name is Bernard Levine and he had been an expert witness in many court cases where the name of the knife has ...

I have quite a few different Torx wrench brands. It has been interesting using them all. I've found they're certainly not created equal. The Wiha fit best. My Husky bits are noticeably looser. It probably won't matter in practice, but maybe it will.

There's nothing wrong with what kgriggs8 said. I'm no great fan of the CL either. Its popularity (on this forum, at least) sways my preference not the slightest. Is someone objectively wrong, another objectively right, in this case? Give me a break. I really hate sacred cows. The proof that there is...

Every Spyderco knife I've purchased has been chosen by looking at the various specs and characteristics. Why would I care, prima facie, what the name was? Would some of you really avoid a knife that you loved the characteristics of, simply because of the name? If so, that seems truly odd to me. Sure...

I'll just throw in that it's not worth buying a crap loupe. I bought a $7 "20x" loupe, used it awhile, then bought a 10x Belomo. And guess what? The Belomo 10x magnifies vastly more than the "20x" crap loupe. And of course, the optics are better, etc.

Well, I guess all their other knives will be discontinued, because one size fits all... Of course that's my tongue-in-cheek way of saying that everyone has their preferences and needs, and there is no "One Best Knife". I'd be closer to agreeing about the PM2 if it were available in SE. Clo...

The Smurf--ugly? Well of course that's a matter of opinion, but as the owner of one, I love it. You can't really tell from pictures. But in any case, it's a personal thing. Not everything has to be as dark as my soul! I have no love for BBS however, and yes, the price of the Smurf was such that I ba...
