I have been a long time Chinook fan. I had a Chinook 2, and 3. Always wanted the Chinook 1. Gotta say I liked the 2 over the 3, even with the added weight.
So, I am looking at getting the Chinook 4, any input people have on it? I know I will get one, just looking to be pushed over the edge.

Re: At Last, A Tactical Bottle Opener
I just watched the shot show thing on YouTube and saw this and it kinda got me wondering... are cans with pull tabs and bottles with twist tops not a thing in the US? There seems to be very strong following for bottle/can opening capabilities being a high priority, I clearly don’t get it but I will...

Re: Space Corps knife??
What chores and functions might this space knife have to perform? sal I would think the majority of tasks a cutting tool in space would need to accomplish are opening packaging, there maybe a need in an emergency to craft materials into improvised equipment (think Apollo 13). Most if not all the us...

Re: FRN Police 4
No decisions have been made as the FRN tooling is still being made. But my leanings are much like what's been mentioned. The edge junky's like Darby will want K390 & ZDP (as will I). The market will want VG-10 (reliable and affordable) H1 & LC are always a possibility. We'll watch and see w...

Re: So will my knives rust?
Wiping down the blade like you are doing will help, or one of the products mentioned by others will help also. Keep this in mind however, one issue you might not notice is that rust will form in places you don't see, like around the pivot, so check those places out from time to time or maybe move to...

This was one knife I always considered buying when it was out, but not sure why, I never did. I would be down for a new version.

Re: Factory Tours?
Most factory stores are at MSRP or the discount is lower than you would find at most dealers. Under cutting your dealer network is a bad business practice.

Re: Spyderco Opfocus Discount for Military, Retirees and Veterans
Heh, you have to watch out for upsizing your order to reach the $150 free shipping threshold! I emerson-waved an item because the extra $5-7 or so saved me $13 in shipping. Also I've never had a wave-opener (but was ok with that). So far I haven't bought a whole extra knife just to save shipping at...

Re: Serrated Yojimbo 2
Ug I hate this argument. Has anyone heard of a yojimbo being used for SD ever? I’d bet my bottom dollar that the vast majority of the people who bought this relatively popular design did so because they liked the ergos and liked that it was a comp lock wharnie. This thing cuts boxes and tape, not p...

Don't think a serrated model would fit into the designer's original vision for the knife.

Re: H1 vs. LC200n...Real World Observations
How is LC200n doing in rust resistance? I heard it is not as good in that department as H1. To be honest I carry my Salt knives a lot in water but they don't do much cutting. Sort of there for emergency use (tangled in cord or line, or that random swordfish that wants to duel). For me I am willing t...

Re: Hinderer switchable pivot system
Why? Rick has always liked the tired and true nylon washer, however since the bulk of his products are flippers, many feel a good flipper should have bearings. This lets people do what they want. Also Hinderer fans are used to tinkering with their knives and adding filler tabs, clips, stand off's e...

Re: Slipjoints rock!
Our grandpa's built nations, went to war, hunted and fished with slipjoints in their pockets. For most cutting chores they are more than adequate. For a martial blade, or some tactical uses they maybe out of their element (but I am sure they were used for those back in the day). When I was a younger...

Re: MAP illegal?
If you follow or buy other brands you will know that Spyderco is pretty much one of the last companies to move to MAP. I remember the days when you could buy knives on eBay for pennies above wholesale. I admit, it was fun. Some guy would open a wholesale account and sell out of his basement, simply ...
