The dye I used calls for HOT. I ended up boiling water and going from there. It took
the dye the fastest and I just pulled the knife out occasionally throughout the 30 min
to check the color and make sure it wasn't going too dark.

I was intrigued at the jump into clear frn. My girlfriend will grab some of my knives like a salt series unit and says it looks cheap can you imagine what would be said about that manix? Anyhow what do they know huh? :) She also grabbed my all black stainless Byrd Meadowlark and said now that's a kn...

LowTEC, I don't know if you lined up a better price somewhere else or were partial to where you deal but if you want to avoid border hassle Warriors & Wonders here in Vancouver, B.C might have the unit your looking for? :) http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_res...

Holy cow! When you guys start talking this kind of talk your way beyond me. :) I have a Lansky system which I use to put bevels back on my blades then usually from there I'm good for awhile with just stropping or a Sharpmaker. I don't think my eyes would really pick up on a bevel difference out of a...

Titanium has a really cool look to it I think. It's pretty much the color of
what is pictured. A bit of a dull off grey color.
Here is another pic of someone else's knives that have been stripped.

Thanks. I don't think so they have a real high shine to them whereas the titanium
has a grey dull appearance.

I am curious to see how well that does with titanium clips, post some pics when, or, if you do that.Nice job with the polished stainless clip, looks real good. :) Thanks to this thread I was happy with the results with the coating removal off my Pacific Salt clip. So now it's just the bare Titanium. ...

and a tet shot when things went wrong fast making a carving knife.
Anyhow scars give you something to talk about afterwards. Take care.

Hey thanks for posting that! I have some green compound from lee valley I use for
stropping and a rotary tool so I am going to try it on my titanium clip and see if I can
buff the black off. Thanks again.

VashHash,
Thanks for info on that, interesting! I suppose a re-dye would be possible?
Although an old two-tone Spyderco might be awesome looking, add to it's character?

Well it's nice to have options anyhow huh? Glad Spyderco makes 'em both. I've never had a problem with linerless pinned knives and almost wish we could still buy the Endura 3 series knives. I'd love to put one to use. :)

D1omedes, Sorry really can't answer that because I just started this little project the other day. Perhaps someone with more experience can say for sure. I would suspect that it might fade a bit with age but will not run. This stuff absorbs into the frn and I don't get any color rubbing off or comin...

Thank you all for the kind comments. Jnewell yes it was the RIT scarlet red.
I would recommend you wear rubber dish gloves and work in a stainless sink
and make sure you pour the contents carefully when done. If this stuff gets
on your hands you'll be wearing it for a day or two. :)

Thank guys. Yellow scales to red... Boil water, add scarlet red fabric dye, and leave in for however long you determine to get the desired tint. I left it in for 30 minutes swishing it around often and pulled the knife in and out of the water just to check how well it was absorbing into the frn. Whi...

I was kind of the opposite probably because I couldn't afford G-10 but I'd always liked
FRN. My first Spyderco was a Delica 1 and really fell in love with FRN from that point
on. :)

I have both and I have to tighten up the screws occasionally when they loosen. The pinned one of course you don't and only with one have I ever put it on the anvil and gave it a bit of a tap with a punch and it worked great, and the reason it loosened was totally my own fault/abuse. Personally I'll ...
