Re: Para 3 Maxamet LW!!! (no, not another sprint or exclusive)

Excellent. :spyder: I thought about doing this but decided against purchasing 2 knives to get one I'll use, and give the other away. I've done this in the past. Hoping for future lw para3s in maxamet, rex45, and the longshot - k390. I almost put rex45 into the LW. I can't really justify another LW ...

Para 3 Maxamet LW!!! (no, not another sprint or exclusive)

So I have two new cruwear blades on their way to me, and I don't know that I can resist the m390 Para 3. Or the lil native 4v. And yet, in the midst of it all, I may have found my near perfect knife. This was inspired by Fullflat at Bladeforums. Maxamet blade in the LW body. I finally received the L...

Delica is not my favorite. Also prefer high vanadium carbide steels. And yet, still couldn't resist this one.

Are those your new cuscadi scales? If so, would you mind a close up? How are they?

Beautiful work.
I am a huge fan of good design ergos and smooth scales - this one now seems about perfect.

Re: looking for custom scale maker

I just got notification - my para3 in maxamet has shipped. I guess Aramis scales go to the top of the list.

Re: looking for custom scale maker

I have no issues with cuscadi. In fact I am a big fan. Years ago (read pre-spyderco), I had a BM940 that I loved. I didn't like the aluminum, so had cuscadi make cf scales. Back then, it was a slab of cf with no contouring or chamfering like they now do. The scales were beautiful, but felt horrible ...

Re: looking for custom scale maker

The CF scales from Akhmedov are very well made. Little thicker for my taste, but great looking scalels. Couldn't resist those CF Ikuchi scales from Cuscadi. Ordered. I will report back in 2-3 weeks. https://scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/64226489_2349222055134210_3848626263010836480_n.jpg?_n...

Re: looking for custom scale maker

Here's some scales I made from scrap micarta. I'm just showing them for reference and not recommending this maker, I had a lot of trouble with him. Nicely done - kind of what I am looking for. Too bad the maker is questionable :p Ok - gonna do the Air for sure. Now thinking of Aramis scales for par...

Re: looking for custom scale maker

Hands down Aramis, dude makes some amazing scales. Yes - he is quite the cnc wizard. Unfortunately does not do custom orders on new knives. And a bit far away. That said - I have been considering his scales for a para3. I emailed him, but haven't received a reply - does anyone know if his scales wi...

Re: looking for custom scale maker

update: Cuscadi is showing on FB that they have Ikuchi scales available. Textured 3D G10 PM3 scales from Cuscadi have been great. No issues with the transaction. Good selection (reference pictures on his FB page) of materials and designs for well established models. Not sure what newer models are a...

looking for custom scale maker

I have decided that my air and ikuchi need custom scales. One is disco'd, the other so new that my usual sources for scales do not have either model. I am guessing that I will need to send the knives to a scale maker - so looking for quality and trustworthy craftsmen. Looking for any suggestions. If...

Re: UKPK: Drop point or Leaf?

I really like the look of the drop point. Searched for one in bd1n when they first came out. It turns out that as much as I want to experiment with the steel, I always grab the leaf (s110v) because the shape just works better. One time (just once), I even swapped out blades half-way through some cut...

You seem to carry small and large, but not much in between. How about a rhino? Small, gentlemanly, and definitely not s30v.

Re: Pocket Clip Sets and Handle Scale Sets : Would it be worth it for Spyderco and would you want them?

I would love more scale options. CQI would likely prevent this from happening. For instance, I remember a custom scale maker posting here asking about changes to the native 5? - the contours changed slightly from an older build to the current build. As such, the scales he made fit the original versi...

Re: If you had to pick just one?

I was going to pick the UKPK s110v - but if I could only have one, I would probably want a lock for the 5-10% of the time a little extra safety is needed. So I would choose the s110v Para 3. Funny thing - I don't even own one yet. When I quote myself, is it like talking to myself? One year la...
