In bed, with the covers pulled over your head.

It's just science.

Re: Time Travel Revisited: What kind of effects?

demoncase, while we are on that topic, what do you think of this idea? Some have speculated about the possibility that human and even animal consciousness can somehow be "imprinted" on space itself, because we know space is not empty, it is a thing, with properties. If that were possible,...

Re: Time Travel Revisited: What kind of effects?

I doubt we will make it that far as a species.

We're way too squishy and far too wasteful.

Re: Time Travel Revisited: What kind of effects?

Time is not a thing you can independently manipulate without doing some major manipulation to space. Hence why black holes are considered to result in a slowing of time due to their massive gravity well. Nor is it a thing you can "pick up a lump of and shape"- it's a component of the mater...

Demoncase, if you ever write a book let us know. I'm going to buy one. :)

Joe
Funnily enough I'm about 75,000 words into the 120,000 words needed to tout the thing for publication- yeah, it's sci-fi ;)

Why aren't more people into knives? Not everyone can be as cool as us. :) That's a good point :) When it comes to "everyday people" in the UK, namely in Britain, do most still have any knowledge about the history of the great Sheffield knife and blade and steel makers or has that mostly p...

What would happen if people had real-life light sabers that really cut/burned through materials like that, and the basic hardware could be miniaturized at all levels, from microscopic to large-sized?
Your local comic book store would now become the most dangerous joint in town.

Re: Time Travel Revisited: What kind of effects?

demoncase, if man can ever somehow harness faster than light waves or particles, could that allow some form of "time viewer" even if the physical person could not travel there? No, for a whole series of complicated quantum mechanical reasons......to create a window to "back there&quo...

Re: History of Serrated Edges on Blades?

I'd look elsewhere for the first 'uses' of serrated edges in knives- Bread knives in the kitchen today are nearly always serrated, to allow the edge to grip the crust. A bit of Wikipedia'ing suggests that the first sight of a serrated bread knife dates to 1893 and the Chicago World's Fair- made by F...

Oh- and finally- that's if you find away of suddenly having a persons-worth of atoms suddenly co-existing with the atoms that make up the air when you snap into existence.....as Sci-fi likes to gloss over that bit ;) For reference, the theoretical result that happening is a sudden, violent, fusion e...

Time Travel is a classic trope of Sci-fi because it's always good fun- with lots of good and bad outcomes to get your teeth into Plus you get to re-use the costumes from the last Julius Caesar play Wardrobe had gathering dust ;) My thinking is that if anyone could cheat entropy and the laws of ther...

Re: 9mm vs 40 S&W vs 45 ACP

I've always marvelled at the US 'revolver hunting' trend- with those long-barrelled .357s, .44s and the like- They do look like fun but weigh as much as a reasonably handy carbine. We don't need no stinking long guns  https://youtu.be/7RFD1_ESbpM Perfect for indoor shooting ranges or casual p...

Re: 9mm vs 40 S&W vs 45 ACP

Personally- all and any round made for a semi-auto pistol has had a number of compromises made that (to me) make it less than desirable for hunting flexibility- I want something bottle-necked firing a high sectional density bullet on a flat trajectory from a nice long barrel.....Something which has ...

Re: Delica Black Blade?

Don't believe there has been a DLC (diamond like carbon) coating on a delica (?). The above referenced knife w/ red handle and the other referenced current production delica with coated combo edge blade are not DLC coated; they are black titanium carboniteride coated. I'll have to defer to the expe...
