Well, it has been a while now and I have really liked my Meadowlark 2. It really fits my hand and is very well built. It wasn't the smoothest knife I have every bought initially, but with time playing with it/working with it, it has smoothed out nicely. I have been quite impressed with this knife fr...

Thanks suedeface for the good review. Sounds like you have put it through its paces! I've got one on the way with G10. Love how you can choke up with the finger choil, which besides the price, caused me to get the Meadowlark 2 over the Delica. Plus it will be a beater knife. I know the Delica will t...

Thanks everyone for your time and advice! I really would have liked to have gotten a Delica4, but with funds as they are I went ahead and ordered a Byrd Meadowlark 2 with G10. I won't be too upset if this knife gets banged up as it gets used and abused. I know, you say it's not as good as the Delica...

Hi still quite new to Spyderco, and the reason that attracted me was Spderco's famous quality. But, with so many knock offs floating around, I am starting to get a little leary. Can anyone give me some good basic ideas of how to spot a fake out there in cyber space? Like I said, I am very new to Spy...

Extreme newbie to the forum, but have been into knives for years and years. I am very new to Spyderco, but I am very impressed by what I have been seeing in terms of knife quality as well as extreme qaulity of integrity. I can see why you all are so passionate about Spyderco knives. People with inte...

If $40 is your limit, have you thought of getting the Endura Combo Overstock Special from Cutlery Shoppe? It's $40 shipped. Here is the link for it: http://www.cutleryshoppe.com/delica4lwt-plaincomboorserratededge-1.aspx Yeah, that is a very good deal! :) Just wish it wasn't a combo edge. I actuall...

If its down to the Meadowlark or Persistence: I'd vote the Persistence all day. That whole line of knives is awesome. I like my Byrd knives but theres just something about them... I prefer the Tenacious family over the Byrds. Plus you get the joy of it saying "Spyderco". The opening hole ...

Well Paul, you convinced me. I am going to order my own Meadowlark 2 in G10. I have gone back and forth about whether to get the Cara-Cara, or the Meadowlark. It all comes down, that I actually use a smaller knive more on a day to day basis. I like large knives, but I don't use them all that much. T...

I'm thinking of getting the same knife except with the G10.
Hope you are still liking it!

If you want a tougher knife I'd go with the Persistance. I had a Meadowlark and it's a nice knife. My son got the Persistance along with a Delica4 and Bob T. and a couple of others. He carries the Delica or Bob T most of the time but has mentioned several times how the Persistance is always there t...

I checked out the Centofante 3, and it is a very nice knife, but it seems more like a gentleman's knife than a EDC. Anyone every used it in an EDC role? The blade seems pretty thin to really be beating on it. I am wanting a good tough blade. I still like the Native as a good tough knife, but is out ...

Well, Persistence and Tenacious are almost the same, except size, so I'd look at that. Aside from that, Tenacious. I prefer the G10 scales, and the liner lock, rather than than the Cara Cara 2. However, the Cara Cara is almost identical to the Endura except for steel and texturing. Either way, they...

Wow, you guys (and gals) sure are passionate about your favorite :spyder: knives aren't you! :D Well, I hope you all won't hate me  , but as the funds are tight and I don't need a fancy knife at this time, (my family and I are missionaries) I think I have narrowed it down to the Byrd Cara Cara ...

I echo all the good sentiments about the Delica. However, if you have a tight budget and want a good knife, the Byrd Meadowlark or Cara Cara will not disappoint. Even though I own two Delicas and Enduras, I'm very impressed with the like Byrd offerings. I'd even say I prefer the ergonomics of the C...

Agreed. I like the wire clip better from a design perspective. The standard clip is very tough though. Didn't enjoy the black clip on my pink Delica4 either. But some paint remover took care of the black paint and now the clip is a nice, understated matte grey color. I intentionally left it unpolis...

Ok, so you are saying that Delica is as good if not better than the Native? (not refering to the Native 5)
I was thinking the Native was a more expensive knife than the Delica.
I do like the look of the Centofante3. Will have to check out some reviews! :D

I am leaning toward the Delica, but I really don't like the painted clip. I makes me think of a much cheaper knife.
I like the clip on the Cat or Dragonfly much better or maybe if the clip wasn't painted at all.

Other than the cheaper chinese steel, I think this is a very nicely developed knife. I'm thinking pretty hard about getting one of these myself.
It sure is helping a lot of people get to know Spyderco better!

Thanks guys for the useful info and your patience! Yeah, that was a lot of questions for a single post. Sorry. I have some time before I will be buying any one of these, so I thought I would try and learn as much as I can first. I too like the Delica 4 with its FFG, but I wish I could find it in bla...
