Re: H1 Revisited

I don’t tend to get emotionally attached to the performance of knife steels and anecdote alone isn’t quite enough for me on this one. I’d love to see some hrc test data for H1 SE. Re: Real World Anectodal Incidents of Corrosion Resistance

Decided to see how sweat and Maxamet get along? . http://i.imgur.com/fIZ4HsL.jpg . Maxamet (untreated) after One weeks EDC, in the July heat here in central Florida. Wasn't near the coast that week. I love the steel, just needs to be protected. Going to reserve it for winter carry only (from now on).

DLT has Reward points also.
Thank You SD. Those extras certainly add up in this hobby.

After a bit of clicking around, it appears when I created my original account at DLT, that I failed to also join the loyalty program. :o A separate step that I don't remember having to do at KC.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

I've bought many knives from DLT great company as well. But if both have it for the same price, I will always choose Knife Center for the rewards points. Currently, I have another $50 gift card accumulated (in points, ready and waiting) to apply towards my next purchase.

Re: SEKI-CITY JAPAN looks hand etched

If I had to guess, someone bought a legit model from them, used their liberal return policy, and sent back a fake. Then Amazon put that fake into inventory.

And you were the unfortunate soul that received it.

If it were me, I'd take advantage of that liberal return policy and send it back.

Just snagged this (Spyderco Gayle Bradley Junction Fixed 4.15" PSF27 Satin Plain Blade, Black G10 Handles - FB38GP) at Knife Center. To hard to pass up this close out at $139.95. Get one B4 they're all gone. http://www.knifecenter.com/item/SPFB38GP/spyderco-fb38gp-gayle-bradley-junction-fixed-p...

Re: Fillet Knife? Steel Types?

http://i.imgur.com/DbGfs6K.jpg The Spyder was a recent purchase on flea bay. The seller comments stated he found it in his fathers old tackle box. It came exactly as you see it, scratches and all. Which for what it is, I don't mind, it felt like a rescue? Because that guy had no love for it, sentim...

Re: Micro Bevel Matter?

Probably not much (unless one is fixated on bess-tester results). Some of those guys may need psychiatric help. :D But it's the crazy people that gather the data points (in many things knife related). Over time we all learn from them. If a non knife guy saw someone hammering a knife through a nail, ...

Re: You can run any model you want in LC200N. Which do you choose?

Great to see all the love for the catcherman. I've got an old combo edge that's seen better days. Would love to replace that one with a PE, seeing how the combo edge doesn't really fillet well. But I also want a SE one for around the house & yard. 4.313" (110mm) of pure cutting awesomeness.

Re: Micro Bevel Matter?

Anyhow, I don’t know if there’s a quicker way than using a micro bevel to touch up an edge and I am pretty idle but I can’t see myself using a 40deg micro bevel anymore. . Super quick touch ups, (agreed) hard to beat the speed in which you can get back to shaving sharp with a true micro bevel. My r...

Re: The Secret Heat Treatment of Frank J. Richtig

To get to the bottom of it, you'd also need a sample of the steel or alloy that he cut. I think there was some tom foolery going on, where he was cutting soft alloy that was fashioned to look like something it was not. Call me a healthy skeptic.

If someone buys this, hopefully they will disassemble, snap close-ups, and post.

Looks like it can be home brewed. Just a question of how easily.

Re: Micro Bevel Matter?

I should of qualified it better. I was using the sharpmaker angles in my head 30 vs 40. I'd imagine LT's edge is a degree or two (nano in comparison), not the 10 degrees difference you'd get with standard sharpmaker slots. Sorry for not making that clear above. But, I agree, even at those sharpmaker...

Wanted to show a picture that'll help illustrate what you discovered (for anyone not fully wrapping their head around it). http://www.caseyspm.com/images/cpm.ImagesGif/KnifeFigure-4.gif At 30 degrees inclusive the edge is stable enough to not need a micro bevel, generally. Everyone's use is differen...

Interesting. I'd rather Spyderco cqi that into the model at a better price.

Can already imagine some people arguing this new lock release will make it faster than a back lock.

Re: The Secret Heat Treatment of Frank J. Richtig

Makes you wonder is it possible that his real secret was possibly annealing the steel he intended to cut (prior to arriving at a demonstration)?

At any rate, very interesting read. Thank you for posting it and looking forward to your future findings.
