A Man Called Otto

Has anyone seen this Tom Hanks movie? It is actually pretty good and a bit funny at times. Warning, many attempts at suicide, but they all are thwarted, much to Otto's frustration! It is part of a running gag. He feels he has nothing to live for since his wife died. People with needs keep interferin...

Re: Family friendly jokes

Why is everyone so tired on April 1? Because they just finished a 31-day March. I have a great April Fools' joke about construction, but I'm still working on it. I was going to tell you an April Fools' joke about boxing, but I forget the punch line. What did the ghost say on April 1? April Ghoul's D...

Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?

I actually had a backlock Manix for a very short time (won an e-bay bid for it completely unexpected), but just held and opened/closed it two or three times to check if everything is right before I immediately sold it again (NOT because I did not like it! I did not want another Spydie back then in ...

Re: Recommendations for a European traditionalist

Did you get the back lock or compression lock model? I have the back lock and it is a dandy little knife, to be sure. I may link the thread my fellow Austrian country man made about his new Lil Native (backlock, btw) since he posted a really nice write up about it which you might want to check out,...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

Anyone ever think that in the Book of Revelation the AntiChrist and False prophet make the image of the beast which is an A.I.? "And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause all who do not worship the image of the be...

Re: Date Code on Box

Yeah, so it could be late 1995 or so. I think that box says no later than 1997. The paper says 1995. The knife was made between late 1995 and 1997.

Someone with more expertise needs to chime in.

We really need a new release of this knife with a new, more fashionable steel.

Re: Family friendly jokes

A university first year decided to try out for the rugby team. “Can you tackle?” asked the coach. “Watch this,” said the student, who proceeded to run smack into a telephone pole, shattering it into splinters. “Wow,” said the coach. “I’m impressed. Can you run?” “Of course I can run,” said the fresh...

Re: New Manix 2 with Uneven Bevel

Your knife was sharpened on the day that Johnson from maintenance came by to try his hand on the grinder.

Seriously, I don't see this often, but sometimes I have. Unless it is egregious, I wouldn't worry about it. Just reset it as you normally would and use it like it was intended.

Re: Date Code on Box

Someone else can chime in. The extent of my knowledge of the Renegade C23 is that this one was made in the years you suggested. It is marked GIN-1 on the blade and that with the box makes me think 1994-1995. However, I am not anything close to an authority.

Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?

Is this the knife everyone really wants? If they got rid of the second point in the handle so my fat mitts were comfier, sure; I'd try one. I just find the Shaman handle to be a lot more comfortable. Looking forward to the Bodacious, also. Since it is linerless, that is easily remedied. You'd have ...

Is it possible to set the date using this code?

I don't think so, but if you show us some pictures of your knife we can probably narrow it down for you.

Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?

I think the backlock Manix could be my one-and-done knife. I prefer the slightly thicker handle for comfort, but wouldn't object to a bit more chamfering. The texture on the G-10 is perfect for me; it gives enough traction, has a pleasant feel, and is smooth going in and out of pocket. The fully cl...

Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?

I have never seen anyone prove that the linerless G10 Manix 2 back lock is any less strong than the one with liners that can be bent or rust. I don't know of any proof that the Native linerless G10 is any less strong. I think this is all needless worry. I see the blade breaking before the pivot, sca...
