Re: Sharpmaker Diamond vs CDN Rods for Sharpening CPM 15V

I eventually wore out my Diamond rods and replaced them with CBN rods. No regrets. I've also been freehanding my SE blades on the CBN Webfoot and it's now my preferred way to sharpen SEs. I leave some coarse, and some get refined on the Golden Stone. Wish there was an 'in-between' to complete the tr...

Time for a little Webfoot love

I was one of the folks clamoring for the Webfoot and I picked one up as soon as they hit the stores. I was immediately struck by how many different useful surfaces this sharpener has. I had been freehanding with the Goldenstone for so long that the Webfoot felt familiar right off the bat. I thought ...

Re: New Stretch 2 XL: Compared to PM2 & Endura

I have the FRN in both SE and PE and I'm very impressed with them. But I picked up the Cruwear G10 during the recent sale and it is on a whole 'nuther level. Just a superb knife altogether.

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?

My 'druthers are pretty minimal. I'd like to see the lanyard hole dropped on those models where it clearly compromises the placement of the pocket clip. I also have a general desire for thinner blade stock. These minor qualms have not prevented me from filling multiple SpyderPacs with these outstand...

Re: Seki City (LC200N) Salt Knives Fit and Finish

Even grind and no noticeable lock rock on any of my last 3 LC200 Salts, except for the Salt 2 Wharnie SE that I last ordered. I had to turn that one in and replaced it with a yellow H2 Tasman SE, which was/is perfect. The Wharnie had frame fitment issues that left a noticeable gap around the pivot, ...

Re: Stretch 2 XL in grey G10 and CruWear steel!

Got mine during the recent sale and it's close to perfect, with a nice even grind and no evidence of the edge contacting the lanyard tube. Pleasantly surprised by how thin it is.

Endura 4 SE Wharncliffe. Got a set of Denim Micarta scales coming from Ukraine for it, along with a Flytanium titanium backspacer. Should be a sweet combo. I've really been enjoying good ol' VG-10 in SE.

Re: Is there a BYRD in your pocket??

The Byrd 8CR13 ain't half bad, especially in SE, and the Byrd serrated edge pattern is very effective. Byrds may be a little rough around the edges (barring the newer Harrier 2s), but all of mine have solid lockups and no noticeable blade play. Solid values, every one.

Now basking in the afterglow of an unexpected Spyderco sale. Strangely compelled to have a smoke, even though I quit over 30 years ago.

Re: I Like Cats

The Cat is a pretty cool kitty. I still have my old 440C and I picked up a BD1N backup when they came out. I like and use them both. Sweet little liner lock that punches above its' weight.

Re: Spyderco 2023 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Here Here on the call for more translucent FRCP! I don't understand Spyderco's reluctance to scratch that itch. Purple, orange, green, you name it. I'd have to buy at least one of each.

Re: The Home Slice - H2 Serrated Death Rope Cut Test

Just a little more anecdotal H2 experience to add here. I've had my Tasman Salt Yellow SE in H2 for a couple of weeks now. It's been chewing successfully on heavy cardboard, poly rope and small green limbs so far and I can't really tell any difference between it and H1. Like Gregg Allman said, "...
