On tossing dice... I'm a courteous professional who acts and dresses the part. Nobody would think twice about me passing on the street. Some years ago before I heard of Spyderco, I carried a Buck Ranger that a friend gave me as a gift. We all went together to some museums in DC on one of their visit...

CF is kinda touchy that way. It's basically layers of fiber-woven "cloth" laid in an epoxy or plastic resin base, and pressed together under high heat and pressure. It can be cut with extremely sharp instruments, but I don't believe it would take well to significant sanding or grinding int...

Not in the past, but my awareness has increased recently. I have knives now (or on order in the case of the Bob T.) that are legal in places I'm likely to travel. We don't have issues w/blade length or lock in VA, but places that I go for work do sometimes have silly restrictions. As I become aware ...

Thanks, Mike. Any idea on the included blade-edge angle on the ZDP-189 Stretch?

Did some cutting last night with the new acquisition and it is awesome. Does anyone know what the included blade angle is? My understanding is that most, if not all, Spydercos come from the factory with a 30 degree included edge. I don't know if the ZPD-189 blades are any different in that regard.

Credit Card abuse at TREXPO today

I made my annual pilgrimage to TREXPO today, knowing that Kristi and Mike would be there. I stopped by their booth to say hi, chat with these two quality individuals, and gawk at the plethora of Spyderco artwork available. What a feast of knives for the eyes and hands! Everything was going fine unti...

This is all to the good, but my question is how much cutting and slicing performance do the majority of people here need in their EDC folder? The same amount as Malcolm Forbes once said was enough money..."Just a little more." Cutting performance is the core capability of a knife. Why els...

This has all been somewhat amusing. What I see here is a classic argument of laboratory testing vs. field testing. Lab results can be useful in defining design trade spaces and making trade-offs. But they cannot substitute for field tests by actual users. Both types of tests are good and useful, but...

Haha I think the 1911 is a dated and overly complicated design for what it is, but the Endura is a minimalistic, efficient, and modern design to answer the ancient problem of serparating two things. No trying to start a flame war, but the M1911 has been helping to win wars and tame crime without fl...

An Endura 4 FRN Black Blade with a combo edge was my first Spyderco and it hooked me but good. It remains my EDC, except when restrictions require that I carry something smaller like a Delica 4 or a Leaf Storm. All are excellent tools, but my heart still belongs to my Endura. It's a masterful combin...

Thanks Kristi and Mike for your clarification to the errant forum posts. It's always best to get the straight scoop from the source. With no disrespect meant to anyone in particular, I think that the word-parsing has carried folks afield. Spyderco has a clear warranty and I have found them to be mor...

My Leaf Storm. It looked "funny" in the pictures, but I needed it because of its <2.5" blade. After receiving it and then using it, I've come to like it a lot. I'd rather that it had a black G10 panel as opposed to light green, but I can't argue with its performance.

Recently a Leaf Storm due to blade length restrictions at some places that I must go. Before that, a Delica 4 CE. Both have excellent blades, but I like the CE for the wide variety of cutting tasks that it handles extremely well.

I also carry a Ladybug 3 Black FRN SE on my keyring at all times.
