Re: Anybody interested in the Baby Jess Horn?

My only concern is, after seeing the Ouroboros thread, I'm a little worried this might also get the teflon treatment from the Japan factory. That would be a deal breaker and I'd probably just end up with a Chap instead. FWIW, the Ouroboros is marked "Seki City - Japan", so it's probably m...

Re: 2017 sleepers?

I would be much more excited for the Meerkat if it came in the same green as the Caly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's a bit turned off by that orange. As for the Opus, I fell in love on first sight. Then I saw the size. Then I saw it's a liner lock without a cutout. Then I saw the price... Eve...

Re: Catalog opinions

The Police 4, really interested to learn what was changed. I carried an original in stainless for years. Should have lost it many times because that stainless never sticks to pockets. G-10, no swedge, no boye dent, Full flat grind. A long slim friend to your pocket that will stay there and stick in...

Re: SpydieChef: Jury is still out

I'm starting to think the steel inserts are mostly an unnecessary feature. Something people have come to expect and obviously don't mind paying for but seldom take advantage of. One of my biggest irritations in the knife world is people who think that a Ti framelock HAS to have an insert or it'll w...

Re: Anybody interested in the Baby Jess Horn?

I'm interested, although I must admit I'd be far more excited about it if Spyderco had gone with polished G-10 rather than peel-ply. I have to agree, the cover material choice could have been better. I've been really curious with this model since the original reveal at one of the knife shows. It's ...

Re: 2017 sleepers?

There has not been as much excitement over the Meerkat as I expected. Perhaps it is because of so many new and exciting options to choose from. But, I can guarantee you that once it is gone there will be a lot of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth over a missed opportunity. I would be much mor...

Re: 2017 Spyderco Product Guide is LIVE!

Such a nice catalog filled with sweet surprises! Thank you to everyone involved on both the new products and the reveal :) Still very excited about the Jess Horn. Looking at the listing on KC, it's a tad pricy, but not as bad as some of the other G10 offerings from Japan. I'd say my only disappointm...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Not sure if you can call this a "deal", but National Knives has the HAP40 Ladybug and Manbug at the original street price. They also have the Stretch, but it's marked up quite a bit.

Re: Spyderhole dimensions: How important?

Hole size is definitely a factor for me. The oversized hole on my PM2 is the only thing keeping me from carrying it more (I know, I know, I'm a minority here). But my fingers are so small, both my middle finger and thumb can get stuck inside the hole on deployment, so I tend not to flick the blade o...

Re: Evil D

Certainly nothing from the Sage series. Maybe a Civilian since he's never engaged in any form of government service or duty? Or a Dice, because the country just rolled it with our future. Or something from the Salt series? I know quite a few people who need something from the Salt series, ya know, ...

Re: Ed Schempp

I have to say I disagree. I love pretty much all of Mr Schempp's designs and hope to see more of his collaborations in the future. The Bowie is such a stunning knife.. I just wish it had a stainless bolster. The combination of brass and carbon fiber is one of those decisions I will never understand...

Re: Suggestion: Laguiole Knife

I think it would make a wonderful addition to the ethnic line. My Fontenille Pataud is one of my most cherished traditional. I'd rather see the cross than the bug on the handle, however, as it is quite fundamental to the design IMO. Perhaps the bug could replace the "mouche" on the backspr...

Re: Spyderco folding beard comb?

I usually carry the Kent folding comb and my thumb always instinctively goes for a spyderhole when trying to open it :o I would certainly be in for a locking Spyderco comb, but I'm not sure there's much of a market for these things?

Re: Magnitude + SpydieChef (pics)

The Magnitude had piqued my interest on the midyear catalog, but I dismissed it as too big. Your comparison pictures with the Spydiechef, however, make it look pretty reasonable. Still not a fan of bearings, but the design is so different from anything else I own, I just might bite the bullet event...

Re: Spydiechef dropping

I'd like to say thank you to all who posted pictures, it gives a much better feel for the size of the knife! I'm really loving the lines on this one, and it looks useful in a way that very few other folding knives are. Spyderco and Mr Slysz really did a great job on this one.

Re: What does a knife mean to you?

Wow, that's a big one! It would take several pages for me to explain, but I'll try to keep it short. My father bought me my first knife, a tiny Victorinox sak, when I was around 6-7 years old. I cut myself pretty bad with it, and I believe that's when the bond started. He then bought me an Opinel wh...

I'd be delighted to see it return. The current resell prices, from what I've seen, are a little ridiculous.

Re: What's up with the terrible quality control on the Delica 4s?

There are so many amazing, smaller knife dealers out there, run by the kind of people who make you feel like old friends even on your first purchase... like most already pointed out, there's really no sense in buying Spydies from Amazon anymore.
