Re: Guess I have to buy a Sharpmaker,

It would also be nice to see Spyderco come out with some new/improved sharpening gear this year! I really think they dont keep up with this end of it. Just my opinion but haven't seen anything besides the Sharpmaker and how long has that been out? I dont count the Golden thing as it was only one gri...

Re: I can't freehand

It is my understanding the DMT's require some break in time so that might be part of the reason for not getting your blade sharp. Just a thought! :)

Maybe I was fortunate but any Dell I have owned and I have had quite a few, I never had any problems with them! I guess I should knock on wood! LOL

Re: Swiss Army Knife Maximized Utility

That is a tough choice but for me I would either go with the Super Tinker or the Explorer. The Explorer to me has the most useful tool setup and at 4 layers it is about as thick as I would want to carry in my pocket. I use a P-7 clip, which works very well.

Re: Computer geeks, I need help

You will want to add ram in pairs for "dual channnel" and if you end up with 4x8gb sticks and one goes bad, you should pull the third stick out to keep it running in dual channel. I just went thru that. I have 4x8gb sticks and one went bad so I had to deal with returning it for another sti...

Check out Amazon and Ebay as I have seen them on both for just over $50 new which is a good price.

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools

If thin is okay with ceramics, then maybe we should try to get a Doublestuff 302 size sharpener stone. Two sided 8x2, about 1/8 inch thick glued together and put in a pouch. :)

Or maybe in a 306 size! :D

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools

Seems like they have been doing a few one grit wonders! :) Seems strange to me too!

I never was lucky enough to get ahold of a Galley V setup so i guess I should be grateful to have a 701 set. :)

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools

You could cut a set of 701's in half and end up with two 702 sets! Is that a joke? Or can you tell me how to cut a ceramic rod properly ? I'm really interested, as I have a broken ultra fine rod from the sharpmaker rods and am curious to learn how to do that. It was meant as a joke but I dont see w...

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools

What I really enjoy are the 702 Profile Stones in medium and fine. With half the length of the 701 Profile Stones they are better portable in the field and allow all-purpose use. A shame they are history for a long time ... :o You could cut a set of 701's in half and end up with two 702 sets! LOL Y...

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools

You know there just isn't enough said about many of Spyderco's specialty sharpening tools. Just the other night I used my model 307 Slipstone for sharpening my PE Tasman. I was just experimenting with it and I was pleasantly surprised. I've said a ton in the past about Spyderco's discontinued 701 P...

I am waiting for the answer too! I even posed the question but didnt get a definitive answer! They have similar grinding ability and finishing ability, have similar requirements for lubricants. I will break both of them shortly to see if the durability of the grit is similar or not, however please ...
