Re: Spyderco used by Navy SEAL and British SAS
The Navy Seals I personally know are fond of the Automatic Microtech knives. The ones that pop out of the handle and then pop back in. I showed one of them my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 and he said oh yeah take a look at this. Yes I do know actual real life seals not wanna be pretenders. I know a lot ...

I have so many knives, I have no idea why. Addictive personality, most likely.

Re: The Spyderco Caribbean at the Pacific
Wonderful, beautiful, excellent! Thank you! This is now one of my all-time favorite knife pictures. Do I have your permission to share this picture with others to get them interested in the Spyderco Caribbean? Also, why do you think the sign warns people to keep pets on leash? Is it for the protect...

Re: Are lightweight versions hindering supersteel potenial?
The Manix LW S110V is one of my favorite all time knives. I had reservations about it when I got it. But it has proven incredibly strong. I love it because it barely registers in the pocket but when you use it has to be one of the best cutting tools ever with S110V. If you are looking for a real wor...

My daughter and her boyfriend are both Marine Biologists. I gave them both Caspian Salts for diving. They both reported that it is the best dive knife they have ever used. The dive often in Monterey Bay and along the North coast of California.

Manix Lightweight in S110V. Such an amazing performer and so light. Carry it all summer and barely know it's clipped to your shorts. I use this one a lot. Para 2 brown G10 S35VN. Carry this one a lot. Really bonded with it. Pacific Salt. I have not been carrying one much lately but historically one ...

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
I don't consider anything under $500 high end. Sometimes also +$500 things are not high end but only a bunch of crap. G.Sakai is selling the Ultimate Hunter, a not so big fixed blade made in collaboration with Kitano Katsumi. It consists of 67 hrc Zdp189 Katakiriba asymmetrical edge blade, with mir...

Re: Sprint Runs and the Abysmal Aftermarket.
It is ironic that one other thread going on here now is complaining about the quality of Spyderco's high end folders and then this thread saying they are selling for more than retail on the secondary market.
Folks you can't make this stuff up if you tried.

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
See, I am a simple guy and what it costs to live is relative to what things cost to buy for me. If my truck takes a 100 dollars in gas then a 100 dollar knife is not that much money relative to cost the of living. So yeah. There is that. I think a 175 dollar knife is budget friendly. Just my opinio...

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
What you are saying is on the 0562 the lockbar stabilizer is cosmetic? Why? Because the Hinderer lock bar stabilizer is an over travel stop. On the 0562 the hardened lock bar face also serves as an over travel stop, and it stops lock bar travel before the Hinderer stabilizer disk takes effect. Henc...

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
Was the Hinderer over travel stop disk a solution to a problem that never existed? That could be debated for days. Spyderco did integrate the over travel stop internally on their RILs that have the hardened steel lock bar face, and continues to do so. Spyderco also leaves their plain Ti RILs withou...

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
I don't consider anything under $500 high end. Well, this is the Spyderco forum, and the Spyderco specific discussion section. The upcoming Paysan is the only Spyderco that's over $500 MAP. So, in the context of Spyderco knives, I'd say that I'm justified in describing $175+ models as high end. I w...

Re: Cost Cutting on High End Models, Why?
Sal, ZT has shown that they can do a solid CF handle, a longer & thicker blade in 204P with a more complex grind, add in the cosmetic Hinder over-travel stop disk (the hardened steel lock face already handles over-travel), make the knife in Tualitin, Oregon, and ship internal parts for free, al...
