Re: Z-Cut cuts

The Z-cuts are wonderful pieces. I have 3 different flavors. They cut very good what is to be expected due to there thin stock. One of them has some rust on the blade. Not much but it is there. Don’t know how that spot developed. I throw them in the dishwasher after use and don’t bother to rinse the...

Re: Micarta Chaparral

The 3 Chaps with wooden handles looked very nice. I saw these prototypes during the Amsterdam meet begin this year. Have them on my wish list since. Hope they will be revealed soon.

Re: Spydiechef or Advocate

Depends on your needs. The Spydiechef is a great food prep knife and a bit less useful for edc. The advocate is the other way around. I would not buy a knife for the fear of missing out. Instead buy what you need or like to have.

Re: Is my waterway underperforming or do I have unrealistic expectations?

Factory edges never are my favorite. Some knives do oke, others not so much. The best way to enjoy your Waterway is to put a fresh edge on it yourself. LC200N is easy to sharpen. As said in previous posts it holds and edge fairly well but don’t expect miracles. I tend to like rolled edges more. They...

Re: S30V

S30V is a bit harder to sharpen than VG10 imo. However, not very difficult either. Gets very sharp with just the sharpmaker. I use a steeper angle than 15 by placing something under the sharpmaker. Then microbevel at 15. Make absolutely sure that you hit the apex before the microbevel is set. You fo...

Only one? I mostly carry 2 or 3 knives at the same time. It can’t be only one for me. I also enjoy the differences to much. I voted other. Not searching for the one.

Re: How do I get rid of lock stick?

I have lockstick on my favorite, the Spydiechef. Tried pencil, didn’t work very well. Already opened and closed it for half a year more than 25 times a day. Doesn’t break in. Sure the lock is secure, however I would like the lock to be a bit easier to open. My reference is the titanium framelock of ...

Re: Outstanding Ergos (Spydiechef)

I think it is one of the best knives of Spyderco. It excels at cutting food imho. The ergos are great for it. The LC200N steel is easy to sharpen and holds an edge quite well. Some say the steel is even stainless and cannot rust. Maybe I will buy a backup for my backup. Is it only the black ha...

Yes, the G10 with k390.
Eric told me at the Amsterdam meet this year that he is thinking of a k390 version of de police 4 LW. Don’t know if it will ever be made. Guess it depends on sales of the LW.

Re: Another way to find out which of your Spyders you really need ;) (Phantasy-knife-world: Court took all your knives..

The chance I will loose my knives due to a counterfeit is zero (I will never own one). Luckily you speak of a fantasy knifeworld. The first two months I will feel naked without my Spydiefolders. How am I supposed to cut anything? Feels like a nightmare instead of a fantasy. After two months I want m...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

My top three based on actual use at the moment are: LC200N : very stainless, easy to sharpen, holds an edge for a fair amount of time and tough enough not to chip soon. Knife: Spydiechef. S35VN : stainless, easy to sharpen, holds an edge for a fair amount of time, not prone to chipping. Knives: Nati...

Re: Where is the Urban Coyote?

This is supposedly a tough steel, but I'm thinking of reprofiling to 15dps using the CBN rods in the Sharpmaker. I did it with an M390 Para 3 a couple months ago and took me around 4 hours total. Do you think this knife would be more of the same, in that ball park? Very impressive, 4 hours of repro...

Nice to hear Sal. I handled the prototype at the Amsterdam meet this year. Have been waiting for it since. I think this will be a perfect user. Balanced steel and lightweight. (Yes, i like VG10 :) ).

Re: POLL: ENDELA: Who has already bought / will / will maybe / will not get one?

I voted not interested at all. Medium size knives don’t hit the sweet spot for me anymore. They are just to medium. I shifted towards bigger knives, the pacific salt for instance. For sheeple purposes i use something small like a dragonfly or urban. Even a delica is to big for this imo. I like to ca...

Boxes are real, judging from the enclosed pictures. I have the same differences on my Spyderco boxes and they are all bought from legitimate dealers. So don’t worry.

Re: Pacific Salt in LC200N?

I am certainly in for a Pacific Salt LC200N. My two favorites atm are the Pacific SE and Spydiechef. It’s a no brainer for me. Either handle is fine. Love the current Pacific handle though.
