Possibly a good point, just not put over well. I don't mind what any knife is called, but I really would prefer it if it wasn't put on the blade. Here in the UK it is very much against the law for anyone to sell, market or carry any knife that is designed for combat or self defence. This means that ...

I have it on good authority the blade is 4mm thick.

Personally for general EDC I would go with the CF Delica. I've found the Dodo a bit of a speciality blade, and for those specialty tasks (opening boxes, breaking down boxes, slitting open sacks, etc) the Dodo is extremily hard to beat, it does it all so well. On the other hand because of the blade s...

The handle is FRN = Fiber Reinforced Nylon. It's basically a very hard form of plastic, several magnitudes harder than normal plastic. It is very light, which often gets mistaken for flimsy, but enyone who has actually tried to saw through FRN can testify it is a lot tougher than it looks. In additi...

If you want something a bit tougher than the Delica (especially if you are worried about the tip) you might want to try the Native.

Not a lot bigger than the Delica, but quite a bit stoughter. A very good all rounder.

Working knife. 2.5/3" blade, full flat ground based on the Calypso pattern. S30v blade with compression lock. Black G-10 handle with the trade mark Calypso finger choils, dual steel polished liners (partly for looks and partly to add weight). Stepping out knife. Same as above except with polish...

I think it's down on record in a number of places, that I'm not a great fan of FRN handles. However there have been two knives with FRN handles that have begun to change my mind, the Vesuvious, the Meerkat, and now the WTC/D'allara knife makes the third. This knife has one of the best handles I have...

Just to paint the other side of the storey. Before her disappearance Linda was very dependable, often she would not ask payment from me until the item had reached me, and that on a trans-Atlantic crossing. I too have tried to contact Linda on a number of occassions, but in my case it is because I ow...

Japanese water stones, natural bench stones that use water as a suspending medium instead of oil. The coarse stones remove metal very quickly, but are relatively soft and wear quickly, the hard stones are capable of putting a mirror finish on a blade. http://www.bladegallery.com/accessories/accessor...

There are two types of sharp, coarse sharp and polished sharp. Spyderco factory edges are coarse sharp because I believe they are hand sharpened on a belt sander, whereas the edge that is obtained on a Sharpmaker (if you use all 4 steps) is more of a polished sharp. Coarse sharp is great for slicing...

Also, I think a price point knife like the FRN Delica in slipjoint form would also be a winner. Where style isn't a consideration, price is. My brother still can't understand why I thought the Buck 110 "type" knife was a piece of junk. It had a 4" blade and only cost £5 new, so it mus...

Hi Sal. I really appreciate the effort behind the Pride, I understand why the Navigator pattern was choosen (very non-threatening), but for some reason it doesn't appeal to me, not sure why, because the G-10 Navigator is one of my favourites. A couple things I can think of are, the Navigator pattern...

Traitor ? - Not at all. Just because I appreciate other fine knives, doesn't mean that I have to stop appreciating Spyderco's for the many fine qualities they have. The Strider SNG I got about 6 months ago has rarely left my pocket since, and yes I have a Sebenza on order, but last night I was think...

To be honest, I think for it's size it's pretty much perfect. The only new direction I can see it going is to take it more upmarket like the Kiwi. Small knives like this tend to be more for dress (gentleman's knife), the office, or the ladies purse. In all these instances the knives tend to be a bit...

Hi rorschach. Ta for the clarification. I didn't have any worries about the lube effecting lock-up or blade closing pressure (I'm fairly familiar with axis locks), I was just wondering if it effected disengaging the lock. I've only handled a fairly early ballbearing lock, and then the spring was qui...
