Re: I do not like LC200N *rant*

Ever since the first prototype of the Waterway it was my intention to have a tool steel version made for myself. I need to talk with Chad Kelly and have him make me one in something like k390, or maybe even cruwear or 3v...or 4v. So many options. I love lc200n too (obviously). Horses for courses. L...

"Forging" mini swords with my kids

My kids have been home A LOT lately. They're perpetually bored because they can't live their normal lives lately and finding something new to do for an hour or two can be quite welcome. My daughter recently saw a video on-line somewhere of a guy forging double-head nails into "mini swords"...

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels

I get the impression Trinity300 is a burgeoning steel junkie / knife knut and I think a lot of us can relate. Over time (decades for some of us :) :( ) those of us that have been seriously perusing this type of knowledge have realized that the information available on-line tends to be more misleadin...

Re: Kapara Vanax or LC200N

Unfortunately the cost of Vanax pushes the price of a finished knife way up..likely in the $300+ range and depending on handle materials and other design choices the price could go considerably higher. High priced knives haven't done as well within Spyderco's line as the more moderately priced and l...

Re: Knife that won’t chip, won’t roll?

Hi Drebs. It seems to me that you're asking for balance. All steel properties involve some degree of compromise. A steel that has a good balance of properties will be the best option for resisting both rolling and chipping. Cruwear and 4V are extremely close to one another in their balance of hardne...

Hi Trinity. Was your rankings list created from your experience using knives you own or have you reached your conclusions some other way?

Re: Form vs. Function

For me, whether purchasing or designing a knife function is always first. As I see it, the function of the knife IS the knife and any efforts to make it look nice should be secondary to the functional aspects of the design. But once a knife becomes a part of my collection, choosing which highly func...

Re: Smart Phones

I have a Galaxy 10 and I've been very happy with it. My wife and both kids have I-phones and I prefer my Galaxy phone. I have all of the functionality that they have plus a better looking screen, and a better camera. If you consider going away from Apple I would definitely suggest a Galaxy phone.

Re: Mule Team Picture/Appreciation Thread!

Chad, you've inspired me to try many different methods and materials not to mention all the tips and tricks you've shared. I for one am grateful. That green mule is crazy! I've tried to incorporate brass and other usual materials together and it's not easy to sand and shape with the different densi...

I had a lot of fun making Mule handles. I'm really glad to see the Mule program returning. Here's one from about 4 years ago that I made for one of my favorite forum members.

Re: ok but how brittle is Micarta REALLY

Since those spacers are further apart than it would be on a native, the angle of bending on a native would be more severe given its shorter distance. It's a good test, just not quite apples to apples. I think touching micarta scales on a linerless native would take more force than he needs to worry...

Re: ok but how brittle is Micarta REALLY

Hia, I ordered some paper micarta scales for my native 5 a while back..... Hi Abyss_Fish, I've done quite a lot of micarta testing over the past year or so. Hopefully I can offer you some helpful insights. There's a lot of anecdotal information about micarta available on forums but I was finding di...

Re: Roadie Ti. Hear me out.

I'm with you Doc. I'd buy a Ti Roadie for sure. I'd love a steel upgrade to go along with the Ti as well. I'd like LC200N with Ti for a totally corrosion free Roadie, or since it's such a small blade go full pocket razor with Maxamet with Ti. But frankly, I'd buy a Ti roadie no matter what steel the...

Yea, when I first saw it in the reveal, I thought they were making a Goddard salt. ... The similarity is really amazing frankly. Here's a little insight about that...hopefully Lance doesn't mind me sharing. Lance spent years developing the Waterway design to be just as he wanted it to be, then deci...
