Simona, great pics. The steel you couldn't remember the name of is Coldsteel's San Mai III. I'll quote from the brochure."San Mai means 3 layers and is given to the traditional laminated Japanese blades.Laminated construction is important for it allows different grades of steel to be combined i...

I have a gunting and I intended to EDC it but it turned out not to be that practical. First half of the knife sticks out of you pocket I found that uncomfortable when seated(I have a little bit of a belly). Second, it happened to me twice that I pulled the knife half opened out of my pocket an almos...

Thank you very much for the info. The calypso I have is a big one. It came in a white box with a little brochure of 1998 in it with former models; very nice.

Handlematerial

Hi,

I would like to know what the difference is in quality between G10/Micarta/Carbonfiber or FRN as handlematerial. And what is the best.
I have a Calypso with a micarta handle with no extra liners and the knifehandle doesn't appear very durable or sturdy to me but maybe I'm wrong.

Hi,

I have 2 Harpy's; one older model ATS55/G10 and the new one VG10/SS. I prefer the G10 over the SS because of it's grip and looks(fittings, finish)

Cricket

Hi,

I am looking at a picture of a cricketSS/PE right now and I was wondering if this knife, because of it's size, is any useful or just a nice collector's item.I maybe planning to buy it this week.

What about the Harpy G10. One of my all time favourites, the knife I carry the most.

just like my old ATS55 Harpy.I like carbon fiber over steel because of it's grip. If that new Harpy has an adjustable pivot pin too, I will most certainly buy it.
Thank you for the info

Very nice, wish it was my knife.

If I had your craftman's skills I would have made an adjustable pivotpit( I can't stand even the slightest blade play) However, I think you did a great job.

Yoyimbo/Dodo

Hi, I have the Dodo and it fits my rather big hands like a glove. The only minor I can think of is a little freeplay(Both up and down and a little sideways) I am allergic to knives with freeplay(even the slightest) so I won't buy a knive wthout an adjustable pivotpin very fast. About the Yoyimbo; Th...
