Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Then, there’s additional stop pin, or rather half a stop pin. It only functions when the knife is in the open position, and then it serves as a stop in addition to the lock bar stop pin. A cantilevered stop pin on one side would need to be supper beefy and stiff to take all the loads in use, so it’...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
For those of you who can stand me, here's a quick video preview, including a full (unskilled) disassembly. Spyderco's doing some interesting, different things with this knife. Including new bearings, and interesting two-stop-pin approach (forced by the Comp-lock I think), and perhaps most wonderful...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
A couple of questions to the maker: Can you explain the reason for the internal stop pin? and It seems that between the milling for the bearings, internal stop pin and lock cutout there is left a very thin piece of steel in that area. Do you feel like this could be a concern in long term use? It is...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
It really looks like the tab might pass the lock cutout without hitting your finger. Gonna be close. Indeed. The flipper tab does overlap a mm or two with the lockbar cutout. Examined visually, it's fairly minimal; but in use, it will most likely contact your finger if you are using the entire cuto...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Howdy all, Sorry I haven’t posted much lately, I’m in the midst of a couple business trips so I haven’t had much of an opportunity to carry and use the Sliverax as much as I’d like. But while I do have a few moments this morning, I wanted to post some quick discussion on the two main grips I’ve sett...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Thanks to all for the kind words and enthusiasm. Even though this is the second time around, it's still a really cool feeling when a new model is ready for release. And sorry for the poor images/lack of pics, I'm not much of a photographer, the attachment limit is pretty small, and I don't have an i...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Well I received my Sliverax production sample yesterday and have been playing with it so much since then my fingers are a bit sore from holding open the lock bar so the blade can swing freely. :D Love the flipping action, but I'm surprisingly taken with the middle finger flickability of this model a...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
The end is nigh! Finally some real news. I should have my production sample in hand tomorrow, and it sounds like the bulk of the 1st production run will go out at about the same time... The Sliverax should officially drop in days. Enjoy everyone, and thanks for the support and patience, and many th...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
I'm quoting myself here so read and improve upon your design dear knife designer. Howdy Mikael, Knife design is a balance of a lot of factors, and for this design I think we managed pretty well. A clip mount cannot be tucked as deeply into the handle end as a lanyard hole for lots of packaging reas...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Paul I really appreciate your constant involvement and interaction with everyone about your knifes. It really helps when designers make themselves available for questions and such. It's my pleasure David, I end up learning a lot from the interactions I have on this forum. I've got more than a few d...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
My concern with the design has to do with the deep finger groove. Hard to tell from pics obviously, but I wonder if my index finger knuckle would bang into the front of the handle or flipper tab. Howdy ABX2011, As with all knife designs, ergos are a pretty personal area, so don't take my comments a...

Re: Paul Alexander's Sliverax C228CFP
A smaller 2.5 inches blade could be a fine addition, as the market lacks quality EDC folder at this size. I have a few sub 2.5" blade designs complete and have a few others planned, but nothing that I've mocked up or submitted to Spyderco yet. (Smaller tends to be harder; less room to package ...

Re: Paul Alexander's Sliverax C228CFP
Want to know if it uses bronze washers? The production prototype is running on ball bearings. Haven't handled a final production piece yet, but it was designed as a bearing pivot, so I'd give it a 99.9% probability that the version you'll have a chance to purchase will be running on ball bearings w...

I'm admittedly a bit biased, but these two do a great job of handling pretty much any of my day-to-day tasks.

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread
Created an account just to post my excitement for this knife. Howdy HogHead, glad to have you aboard. From Sal's comment a few posts back, it shouldn't be much longer on the Sliverax if the quality checks out. Spyderco's got a lot of intriguing and exciting projects in the works form what I've hear...

We also tinkered a bit with a sharpening choil: IMG_0063.JPG It didn't make it into the production version, though. I hope/think there won't be any issues with sharpening systems if you give the handle a decent rake angle when holding/mounting and potentially clamp the unground area close to the han...

Re: Fun Diversion with a lil' Matriarch
Is the edge of the hole as sharp as new spydiehole? I've hand-sanded it to be comfortable (had to cut the tube to length so there was originally a rough edge on one end), and it is not overly flared, so it is quite similar in feel to pretty -new Spydie, but maybe not quite as sharp as the hole-edge...
