I'd like to see a fatty version. Same blade, same exact handle shape, just much thicker contoured scales. Some of us go clipless and don't mind the girth.

I pretty much only use mineral oil. Food safe and I've never had a problem in the last twenty something years using it. I imagine there are other products that might do a marginally better job at lubrication, but I like the idea that the stuff on my knives is non-toxic.

The correct term for the 'catch' is lockbar. I would advise you against your proposed modification. I'm not sure if or to what extent the lockbar is hardened, but modification of the locking mechanism on a knife is asking for trouble...as is using any powered equipment to modify plastic.
