Re: Sgain Dubh poll
this guy gives a bit of background on the knife style and makes a pretty good looking modern Bushcraft interpretation. https://youtu.be/7BDP2itSjX8 I watched that video when I was first searching for a usable Sgian Dubh. I think Spyderco can produce a modern interpretation that maintains the look a...

Re: Sgain Dubh poll
Most interested in a 3-5 inch fixed blade. That might just be the ticket for a concealable fixed blade to take fishing or on a hike. You can actually do a lot of cutting chores with a 3.5 inch blade. Many people think that fixed blades have to be a foot long or longer>> but nothing could be further...

Re: Lil’ Waterway
I suggested a Sgian Dubh in lc200N with a 3 to 3.5 inch blade. A Sgian Dubh is a Scottish knife usually worn in the sock when wearing a kilt. There is a poll going on right now for people to vote for fixed vs folder and blade size. Grizz I read that thread and like the idea! But:Can´t recall right ...

Re: Mule Team quantity discussion
I personally would trust Spyderco to bill me $50 for the pre-sale and then charge me the additional cost (within reason, of course) at the time of delivery. I'd have no problem putting in $50 for presale and then having to come up with another $50 at delivery, for example. That is admirable on your...

Re: Mule Team quantity discussion
Thanks Sal for bringing this up. The best solution I see is a presale arrangement, and include a bump in price. (This would be necessary due to the added costs Spyderco would have in implementing a presale arrangement. Plus while I admire and support Spyderco doing the mule team as a service to inte...

I'd like to see a fatty version. Same blade, same exact handle shape, just much thicker contoured scales. Some of us go clipless and don't mind the girth.

Thanks for picking up the banner. I saw Sal's post earlier, but had to work and was hoping to do this tomorrow!
Fixed with 3.5 inch blade.

Re: Sgian Dubh, Who wants a Spyderco version?
Hey Gdwtvb, Are you thinking fixed or folder? What is the proper pronunciation? sal Best I can tell the proper pronunciation is "Skeen Doo" or "Ski-en Doo". I've always loved smaller fixed blades, so fixed blade would be my choice. LC200N would be a natural choice for the steel ...

Sgian Dubh, Who wants a Spyderco version?
A Sgian Dubh is a small fixed blade knife usually worn in the sock of a Scottish man when in full regalia. (Kilt) Sgian Dubh means black knife and probably referred to the color of the knife, with bog oak being one of the usual handle materials. Most commonly it is a small spear shaped blade. (Some ...

I've been a member for twelve years now. I'm looking at the forum pretty much every day, yet my post count is relatively low. I joined because Spyderco is a company that mirrors many of my life values. CQI, Constant Quality Improvement, that is something I try to do in my life, with a focus on famil...

Re: Li'l Native Slip joint: Perfect pocket knife?
I'm excited about it! I am hoping that the little native becomes the base model of a Spyderco custom shop. With three choices of locks, (none, lockback, and Compression lock.) then offer three or four steels for each, some handle options and then Spyderco will have a custom option that would be leg...

Re: What knives in your collection keep wow-ing you?
Spyderco Stealth Chaparral. I always come back to it. I'll carry other knives, and then put this one back in my pocket. The first time I use it again after not carrying it for awhile, I remember why it's my favorite. Not too small, not too big, and with the thinner blade and great profile, it cuts b...

Re: Knife lubricating agents
I pretty much only use mineral oil. Food safe and I've never had a problem in the last twenty something years using it. I imagine there are other products that might do a marginally better job at lubrication, but I like the idea that the stuff on my knives is non-toxic.

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.
I have a slightly different take on this, I think the current demand for the slyz bowie is a result of Spyderco offering so many desirable models at the same time. The Slyz Bowie is one that I, and alot of people I am guessing, wanted to buy but missed it. We just assumed, being such a great knife, ...

First and foremost, a Titanium scaled ladybug/manbug. Been wanting one of those forever. I'll echo one other I glanced at, Spy27 Making it's way into some G10 models...or better yet, titanium. I hope the recently discussed Titanium handled UK Penknife makes its return in 2021 so I can finally get on...

Re: Knifemakers, Machinists: Help Me Jimp
The correct term for the 'catch' is lockbar. I would advise you against your proposed modification. I'm not sure if or to what extent the lockbar is hardened, but modification of the locking mechanism on a knife is asking for trouble...as is using any powered equipment to modify plastic. I think any...
