I've been really happy with this one. Currently sporting a very coarse 140 grit edge at about 12dps with no microbevel.
Great day for a ride. Nearly 80F

Re: Cold Steel Talk
Got this in Tuesday. Sheath is pretty tight but I put my edge on it this morning. A little oil helped with the sheath but it's still not where it needs to be. https://i.imgur.com/KCoCBXc.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/yp4ZRx5.jpeg I've got the Olive Green and FDE runs. Same deal with the sheaths. They bo...

Thanks for the report! Excited to see what you post tomorrow. The 15V's are neat but I'm crossing my fingers for brand new models.

Re: Upping the price.
Up to this point I admit I have overlooked Coldsteel. Wished I hadn’t. Every time I hear people talking about Cold Steel knives I go look at them. Then I quickly close that web browser tab :). They just seem so wonky and cheap looking. But I can see the Bushranger is super contoured in the handle. ...

Tracking the prices of knives over the years
I've been going through some old documents, and among them are knife receipts. Thought it'd be neat to have a thread where people post theirs too. Email invoices, paper receipts, price stickers still on the box....any of those is fine. Here's a faded New Graham receipt from a few years back for a Yo...

Re: Upping the price.
Looking at the Astute I'm noticing something that I feel could be improved upon. The edges look pretty squared off. Some knives it matters more than others. I like the chamfering on the Astute and the Chaparral LW just fine. But they are tiny knives. When I switch from a Pacific Salt to a Voyager a...

Re: Cold Steel Talk
Think the Cold Steel band has gone in wrong direction the last couple of years. They Cold Steel use to have big booth at Phoenix's SAR December Gun Show, use to look but never bought, as I thought value & quality was not there for price. JMHO. Know they have big following, and some interesting ...

Looking at the Astute I'm noticing something that I feel could be improved upon. The edges look pretty squared off. Someone mentioned in another thread they liked the Native 1 ergos better than the 5. In some ways I agree. I like the handle profile of the 5 better but the contouring of the original ...

Re: Seki City back lock quality in 2022?
I love Spydercos knives but I don't feel like you made a fair comparison. edit: lol, just noticed how old this post was of yours.... Ehhhhh I stand by it. To be fair, I should mention that the comparison is about 15 years old. I used to sell them side by side with Spyderco in college, and at that p...

Re: Cold Steel Talk
I have one of their gladius machetes. It's very soft so it can take some abuse. It was definitely not sharp when I received it but I fixed that after stripping the coating. It looked like someone tried to sharpen it with a hand held 4 inch grinder. I actually use it for throwing more than clearing ...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
there's a craft area at the science museum me and some neighbors took the kids to. All the scissors are 100% dull and won't cut the tape. I helped them out with cutting tape and trimming cardboard so they could make purses, boats, etc. Fun trip.

I appreciate the corrosion resistance of 110V but otherwise prefer K390. It has a better sharpening response for me too.

Re: Weird streaks/scratch in DLC?
I honestly think it looks good, and vote that you just use it as it is. S30V doesn't need the coating to resist rust, it was always cosmetic in my opinion. My testing has shown the opposite. On a satin finished S30V knife with bare liners I can get rust to form in an afternoon of working outside in...

Re: Cold Steel Talk
the rajah is on my list. was gonna order one during midways last sale but opted for a frenzy instead. the rajah looks like it could come to dominate the pocket machete role. the handle looks a little less abrasive too which will be nice for times I'm not using gloves.

Re: Seki City back lock quality in 2022?
I don't feel like this is anywhere close to an objective comparison. If you want a similar knife to the Endura which offers a rock-solid lockup, you can pick up a Cold Steel Recon for about the same price. You will lose the round hole True. Recons have thumbstuds. They also have G10 & S35VN for ...

Re: Military Sprint Runs No More?
It's interesting to me there's always more people lamenting the end of the Military 1 sprints than there are people posting Military 1 sprints in the daily carry thread. By a wide margin, too. Some of us don't post in the daily carry thread. I have never been vain or narcissistic enough to believe ...

https://i.postimg.cc/7hVDz7zM/20240302-164037.jpg Retention is good enough to feel confident carrying it horizontal, and it doesn't scratch the blade when you draw the knife. It's a high quality sheath. https://i.postimg.cc/mrHswKMr/20240302-164047.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/pL7vKPm7/20240302-164052....
