Great stuff. Just a recommendation: take some pics of the lockup of each knife. That's something I like to see.

Also, I was looking at the Mili and Para pics and came up with a random question:

Do these two knives have liners? Do they have backspacers?

I think you might be right. I have a PE "Emerson Opener" Delica, and the handle is blue/grey. On Spyderco VT, the SE "Emerson Opener" Delicas look do be more green.

I don't know exactly what to recommend, but if you do try this, there are two things I'd consider:

1. Make sure you don't cut too much at the tail end in such a way tha the tip/edge will stick out when the knife is closed.

2. Make sure not to inhale G10 grain; they say it's toxic.

^ ^ Yeah, I finally got that. Assuming no grind has been done yet (the blade is still a rectangle), the metals are sandwiched. Then when the grinding has been done, that whole piece of metal below the "line" is going to be ZDP. I kept thinking that only a very skinny portion in the "c...

Not quite sure about your diagrams, but I don't think you have it right yet. The Zdp is in fact sandwiched between 420, however the way the knife is ground means that below the lamination line you only see ZDP. The cutting edge is pure ZDP. Higher up to the spine you have a sandwich of 420. So I th...

On a ZDP189 Caly 3, that part is all ZDP189. The sharpener never comes into contact with the 420 steel above the ZDP189. Ok, that was my original question, and everyone else replied that it is "sandwiched." So looking at that knife with the edge pointing downward, below that "line&qu...

Wouldn't that be weird to sharpen, though? If the outside is 420 and the inside is ZDP, isn't the outside going to grind away a lot faster than the core?

Laminated ZDP?

How does the laminated ZDP-189 on the Caly 3 CF work?

Is it a "sandwich" method, where there is ZDP on the outsides and 420 on the inside? Or vice-versa? Or is the entire belly up to that visible line ZDP-189 steel?

Thanks.

My Delica 4 (Waved) has ZERO side-side play. It has some flex, but when I move it side-side, I cannot detect any difference in space from the tang to each FRN scale (the space between). Vertical, however... Would you consider this vertical blade play? If I put my hand on the handle as if I were goin...
